Ever since HIngis, Kournikova and Seles left the game and coupled with the fact that Hewitt is hardly the player he once was and fat dave being, well fat dave Yonex is incredibly underused by the top players. Dementieva and Ivanovic (SLUMP) are their biggest stars currently.

A player like Fer will always have lots of UEs (although I'm actually reasonably happy with Fer's W/UE ration most of the time). :p But the DFs are kind of unnecessary I agree.

Congrats to Fer! I didn't expect him to win against Djokovic after the long match yesterday - and lapse in concentration. rafa has been in awesome form all week, and can't see Fer - or whoever had made it to the final - stopping him. But who knows?

In Rome, Rafa won 6-3 6-3. But I believe Nando was struggling with knee injury during that match. I distinctly remember the picture of him wincing in pain during a time-out.

In Madrid, Rafa won 6-4, 7-5. There was clear improvement there. He led 4-0 in the first set, and obviously the second set was very close too.

So Nando just needs to play his own game and above all BELIEVE. The main thing I'm worried about is that he'll be too happy to have reached the semis and finals and had the good win over Nole. He needs to realize that he has a shot at a big title like this so he needs to not hold back at all. :cool:

Nando said it would be nice if rafa could maybe just let him/other players win in monte carlo just once:p which i thought was kind of funny....and rafa said that he felt it was the best tennis he's played in a long time and he felt good, which is pretty frightning for the rest of us:rolleyes:

but if nando had to lose im ok with it being to someone like rafa who was clerly the better man on the day, and nando did try!! there was just nothing he could do against super-rafa!

I recorded the match and watched it when I knew the score. At least Fer didn't give up. Rafa has been on top form this week, no-one could have beaten him today. I wonder if Fer will 'suddenly pull ot of Barcelona? I also think he should give it a miss.

You guys should all ignore the idiots in GM. Nando had a great week, he is back in the top 10(at number 9). He was very nervous as it was his first big final and he was playing against probably the best claycourter in history. He missed some opportunities to hold or break but still fought. The way Rafa played today he would have destroyed everyone. We should all be proud of Nando and keep in mind that this is just the first of many good things to come for him.

Nando and Rafa arrived in Barcelona today by car(BFF'S). Rafa is no longer playing there:( but he will stick around in Barcelona for a couple of days(He will give a press conference tomorrow). Now Nando has a great opportunity to win Barcelona. VAMOS NANDO!!!

It's a strange match, First set until half of second Nando seemed resigned, didn't have the strength even to shout. At the end of the second he came back with some good shots and showed some fight, got the second. But now on 3rd started already with his service broken and is trying to come back. As a overall from my point of view, he is quite tired, might have something hurting him, sometimes he looks like he is going way beyond he can go phisically, and mentally, he is right in the middle of ups and downs. Let's see how the match goes up to the end! Still, VAMOS NANDO!

That's his best match of the year for me - he won a match he had no right to win and in which he was the worse player. That's what makes a player a top player. VAMOS.

I will admit that he did do good to stay in there and atleast play it out and try make things work for him not just look at the scoreboard and think "well im tired I dont want to play anymore" and give up like some other players do. But still he came within like 2 points of losing! I mean i'd like him to stick in there and put up a fight, but i'd like it to be played out a bit more "together" then he seemed today.

Fer looked tired and a bit sluggish out there. I know he dug deep, but I really think he should have skipped this event. There's Rome next week - that's 3 tournaments in a row. It's too much with RG approaching.

I think he should've skipped it as well. He already has quarterfinal points from Acapulco that would've been enough to sustain his new ranking and he's also playing Madrid and Nice with only a week between Rome and Madrid before Roland Garros where he can rest. Not very smart, imo, but hopefully his team know what they're doing :)

considering i was cheering for Ferru this match, it would be a lie to say im not the teensiest bit annoyed with Nando at the moment:lol: but im sure it will pass.

but hell even i can still appreciate the fact that he really did digg deep and pull alot of 'something' out of nowhere! he looked completly exhausted during the 1st set and even into the 2nd and i thought he would breakdown as the 2nd set went on (and i think if he didnt break Ferrer after going to duece so many times he probably wouldnt have won) but once he got the break he played like a crazy man and (my) poor Ferru couldnt keep up!!
I really hope he wins the final now and seeing as he did so well here i hope he decides to take some time off because there's no need to push himself to much, and looking at his cute little face it looks like he could do with a few extra nights sleep:zzz: :p

After the first set, I really thought Ferrer would take the match. But Fer hungin there and fought for every point - and then it was Ferrer who capitulated in the final set!
