Hi Verdasco fans!

Just poped in to say hope Fernando rips Sexy a new one.

I'm a Gasquet fan who also supports Verdasco - just never posted here. Anyway after yesterday's semi I agree with my fellow gasquet fan BGT - "aim for balls"

Verdasco has been playing great and congrats to him and all his fans.

He just broke for 2-0. Keep it up but beware if you get too far ahead you will unleash the purple jerk.

Hey everyone. Well you'd all know by now that Fernando played great, he looked really solid out there, and to be honest I'm starting to think that he might be the surprise finalist at the Australian Open (I predicted gonzo would do great after his kooyong performance in 2007, and once I saw Tsonga play GGL at the open I thought he might make it far, and I was right, so hopefully I'm right again). I've got quite a few photos, just give me a bit of time to post them please.

But what I thought was really lovely was that he spent about 5 minutes just signing everyones autograph, he hands down spent longer than any other player. I got an autograph from him too:) It was funny, because one woman made him sign for her, and then reached up and ruffled his hair up, and Nando just started laughing. He didn't seem to mind, but man they have to put up with so much crap. Anyway tomorrow he's up against Federer, and I'm looking forward to a great match:)

but, has it crossed your mind that instead of playing DC, and maybe aggrevating what's wrong, he might have used the extra days of to be fully fit again? So there you have your answer :D

Guys, even though he lost the second set after having such a good lead I think the signs are still healthy. Rafa's a fighter remember?

Another quarterfinal at a MS isn't too shabby, and the streak continues. He's starting to give the Top 4 players fits. He just needs to take that extra step and start beating them.

Pity Fer couldn't have forced the match to a 3rd set,but I'm happy with his performance this week, his best ever showing in Madrid. He's becoming so consistent, fully deserving his place in the elite Top 10 right now,and I can see him in appearing Top 5 quite soon. Vamos Fer:rocker2:

VerdASSco
06-18-2009, 10:54 PM
It's really strange after such a consistent year to have these two losses which are completely out of sync with the rest of his results. Roland Garros was a bit disappointing but nothing like his grass court losses.

In recent interviews it's clear that Fernando really believes he deserves to be at the top of the game, takes note of rankings [and feels he can move past Simon and Roddick in the next few months] so I hope that he has had a positive week since crashing out in 's-hertogenbosch and I think that he can do more over 5 sets to get back into tough matches. A 75 76 match could obviously have gone either way.

Similarly, I'm glad I'm going early [Tuesday, Weds, Thurs] to Wimbledon so that I maximise my chances of seeing him... and hopefully doubles with Feliciano, assuming his losses aren't to do with injury and he's playing dubs.

FlameOn
06-19-2009, 01:03 AM
Are you guys worried about Nando's performance the last couple of weeks?
I am worried. I hope that he's got these two bad losses out of his system so if he was burned out before or something he won't be anymore. These two losses to two German nobodies are so unlike Nando in 2009, and the fact that he missed set and/or match points in both matches make it even more frustrating.

Simon maybe, but I wouldn't bet on Roddick who's having too good a year. I'd actually bet on Roddick getting back to the Top 5 before Verdasco overtaking him, but that's OK. Rankings don't matter too much. Only how well he does in his tournaments. :)

I know, and I know he did try, but I'm just talking in general. Since the French Open where he lost to Davydenko, he's lost to Philipp Petschner, Benjamin Becker, and Ivo Karlovic. No offense to these players but they're not exactly cutting-edge.

I'm really looking forward after Nando recovers to seeing how he does on the hard-courts. It's probably his best surface so I'm sure he'll do some good things. I still think he can win a title this year (no matter how big or small, I just want him to win a title). :D

I know it's part of the big plan to play less and win more but it feels like ages since he played... looking forward to a good showing in Montreal from a fresh Fer... assuming Gil Reyes hasn't worked him too hard!

I'm excited to follow his progress in Montreal. :woohoo:

His form following the French Open has not been as scintillating as his form leading up, but nobody can take away the results he's had this year.

I hope he finds a holiday to be what he needs to recharge the batteries because I'd really like to see him with a title. With the year he's had it would be a crime against humanity if he didn't win a title. Even if it's just a small one, he needs to be part of the winner's circle.

Montreal awaits. Go Nando! :rocker2:

Nando deserved to win today. He nearly had Roddick there guys. He played a great match

 Nando. Unlucky draw. On the plus-side he seems to be back and playing well again. :)

Well, Montreal has not been fun. I'm worried that Fer can't win a tiebreak for love nor money. I don't know the score of his first round doubles but obviously there was his first round 6-1 6-7 6-1, his third round 6-7 6-4 6-7 and his second round doubles 6-7 6-7 to be worried about. But other than the horrible loss he played really well, was aggressive on his forehand, consistent on his backhand, moved well considering I think he should drop some muscle and served well too. I'm excited about the US Open and think he'll thrive over five sets... shame he couldn't have pulled last night out of the bag though and improved his ranking.

Losing the last 6 times to Andy didnt help matters...... He fought hard, Im proud of him. With Roddick there's always the free points on serve..... which can drive a person mental and helps him in TB....

I think Fer did a very good match against Andy and should be happy with his game :)

Good luck for Cincy :yeah: :worship:

He played very well. The 48 unforced errors cost him the match.

Del Potro's withdrawn so that makes Fernando's route to the quarters much easier... then [a tired?] Murray. Back in the top 10 today!

Awesome. Hope he can make a good run there. It's time to get some more of those ranking points. :D He's got a pretty good quarter, and with Del Pony out he could go even deeper. As for Murray, well, he's in superb shape. I think if Kolya can win two tournaments in a row and then play half of another then Murray will be fine. So Nando will probably run into Murray should he make it that far.

I rest my case. Some sort of weird tiebreak thing going on.

I think he probably wild card into new haven but hope he doesn't as I think the less is more tactic is a good one as he gets older.

He found one of Ivanovic's visors lying around so popped it on. It didn't actually look that bad in photos.. hopefully there'll be new kit for the open.

Well...he lost to the No. 53... so not that great...

Granted, Garcia-lopez was playing well, but I expected more from Fer.
