I'll also take Sutherland or Watney, although I'm sure you'd classify them as mugs. Vamos, California! :yeah:

Mikey, why aren't you doing the Masters Best Ball Challenge with the rest of us? :p

massive hype coverage on mcilroy here in ireland... hope he just enjoys it... at 19 you just have to i think...

woods, harrington, mickelson or ogilvy... would like to see garcia, vijay or els have a good crack though...

McIlroy should thrive under the pressure, I think he'll do well. Probably not quite ready to win it though.

Tiger is obviously the man to beat. Hopefully he wins it so Big Phil doesn't manage to steal the #1 spot.

I'd take a Sergio win though.

Would be nice to see Vijay miss the cut and finish bottom of the field :D

I think he'll be fine with the pressure, he's got a great head on his shoulders. Augusta is damn hard, especially on your first visit to winning it might be asking too much (though I don't think inconceivable), I think he's a sound bet for a top 10 finish though.
adam how could you pick TIger Woods for Round1 in the Masters game? :rolls:
I expect a strong start from Tiger, something like a 68 :D

Monumental fuck up by Tiger on 18, should've been -4 and instead is -2. Still well placed though.

Decent start for Rory, very solid. I think he should kick on tomorrow and post a good score.

Sandy Lyle with a 72 :bigclap:

Fluke first day, you'll fall away like most guys after the first day of a major :p I'm nicely placed, like Tiger...waiting to pounce - Chad Campbell was a GOAT pick. Tiger and Rory didn't do enough for me, and Pat Perez was a complete flop. I've taken some risks and changed my line-up for tomorrow.

ExcaliburII
04-10-2009, 01:28 PM
Romerin teeing up early in the morning, this could be good for him since greens are still soft, afternoon will be much harder today for sure.

Larry Mize double bogey 1, potential catastrofe round for him today.

Mickelson will probably do a good round today to be in the title bid.
Tiger 68 probably.

El Patito Cabrera is the big doubt for me today, I hope he is motivated.

adee-gee
04-10-2009, 02:38 PM
Weather isn't good apparently, course will be a lot harder. I think scoring will go up a lot for the rest of the tournament, maybe something like -6 or -7 will be good enough to win the tournament.

Early starters have it good, wind will come into play for the late starters.

ExcaliburII
04-10-2009, 06:24 PM
Ridiculous Romerin double boyeing 8th hole, lost 3 strokes there. Still, if he is able to finish with two more birdies it should be ok. 15 and 1 more.

Nice choking by Campbell  he lead by 5 at one stage at -11.

Tiger`s round is not bad. He still has the 2 par5`s in front of him, if he could birdie both of them he would be in dangerous position.

Its very important Campbell bogeying 18th so the cut would be 3.

adee-gee
04-10-2009, 07:31 PM
I agree Tiger's position is ok, he isn't playing great though. His irons are usually flawless, he seems to be misclubbing quite a lot  he just hit another terrible shot on the 13th.

Romero :cuckoo: he's such a good player, but he can't seem to have 2 good rounds in a row never mind 4.

ExcaliburII
04-10-2009, 07:44 PM
Romero is top5 material, if i would have his putt game i would be playing at Augusta. He is completely brainless.

Best round of the tournament. Nobody will be interested in McIlroy for the rest of the weekend. He almost missed the cut.
The Yanks are mad on him, he'll still draw big crowds. A bit fortunate to still be in it after his sand kicking, he's got nothing to lose now.

Only Top 5 i can see winning is Cabrera.

adee-gee
04-11-2009, 05:30 PM
It's not definite someone outside the top 5 will win.

Hamilton will do well to shoot under 77, there's no way he will fluke another major. I think one of Perry and Campbell will totally screw up today, but I think one (probably Campbell) will have a solid round, maybe a 72/73 and it's up to the rest to shoot a 68 or so.

Very hard to call a winner  I hope Tiger can find his form today.

adee-gee
04-11-2009, 06:25 PM

Thought Cabrera was out of it after 10 holes, he was playing pretty wild.

Nice play to hang in there with a few very clutch putts. That par save on the 1st playoff hole was clutch.

When Cabrera is swinging well he is one of the best and most exciting players to watch. He usually peaks at the right time.

Got to feel sorry for Perry, the best player for 70 holes. Great Masters to watch in recent years for sure.

In between Cabrera's two Slam wins he has 0 top 10 finishes in stroke play events. That is quite pathetic and I guess it would have to put him in solid footing for contender of worst player to win 2 majors, but ultimately all that matters is that he was able to win it all. I'm impressed with the way he was able to come back after being down early in the round and then again in the playoffs. Epic choke by Kenny Perry, but Cabrera was steady and did what he had to to win it.

He is clearly a player to go into hall of fame.

The reason for him to achieve good results only in majors, is because he has biggest balls in sports history, even bigger than nadal and tiger.

Can you name a worse player who has two majors? I cant maybe think of one or two others but he is certainly in the running. I don't understand how he has the biggest balls either. It's not like people are expecting a whole lot out of him, so he is able to go out there and swing pretty freely. Most of the time it doesn't work, but on occasion it does and he has 2 tremendous results because of that.

ExcaliburII

you dont understand how he has biggest balls? I bet only Tiger and him could do that par he did at 18th. Only player in the tournament not to shit his pants.

Cabrera > Vijay.
Both with 2 majors.

But there are many others worse than El Pato, which will probably complete the career slam.

Are you talking on the playoff hole? Yes that shot took balls and fortunately for him he got the right bounce he needed. But everyone has to get somewhat lucky to win a major and the player who deserves it seems to create it more. Still I think it would have shown more fortitude if he had actually hit the shot as it was intended as opposed to getting lucky. Let's not forget Tiger tried to do the same thing but was not so fortunate. Vijay is also way better than Cabrera. Was Cabrera ever number one?

ExcaliburII

No, Cabrera was never number one, but at least he has never cheated. Only thing that matter in golf is majors, all other things are complete shit. Cabrera doesnt give a shit about all other tournaments.

Except for Ogilvy Australian golf in general is an epic fail

I admire Ogilvy for doing what he is actually meant to do and play golf unlike the other Aussie losers such as Allenby who seem to have a regular ranting sessions where they have one great big sook.

It is a shame though that most Australians know who Appleby, Allenby, Scott and all the rest are but have no idea as to who Ogilvy is. And then you have some parts of the Australian media talking about Norman as if he is right in contention for the US Masters :o

Fangios 5 titles were in a time where F1 meant shit, further more, F1 depends more on the car than on the skill of the driver. Ginobili was one more on the team, first time he was even reserve.

Diego
Vilas
Cabrera
Fangio
Ginobili
Monzon

It's nearly impossible to compare players from individual and team sports. For example Messi is widely considered one of the best two or three players (or the best, depending who you ask) in the most popular sport in the world, but he has few titles to show for it with either Barca or the national team. On the other hand Ginobili won the biggest titles in basketball but he's never been one of the best two or threee players in the world. Luciana Aymar was widely considered the best player in the world and won major titles and reached finals, but in a sport which is not so popular.

For individual sports, things are much more clear cut, though it's still very hard to compare among different sports and different eras.

Tiger went backward. But still has a 2 shot lead.

I think it is good that Harrington isn't paired with Tiger for the last round. I hope he can shoot a superb round and be the 1st man to beat Tiger, who has never lost a major with lead after 54 holes.

But I can hope can't I :p

Yes, he is better off away from the Tiger crowds. As yesterday showed. But it is a big ask.

Shocker from Padraig.

Can't believe what I'm witnessing with Tiger, I'm also stunned how steady Yang is playing. Surely he'll choke eventually.

Rory could've won this tournament, he's been a birdie machine despite putting like crap. Just too many dropped shots at crucial times :(

Unreal. Crucial birdie putt from Tiger though, I still think he's gonna win.

What a great tournament from Rory, his best major :yeah: :clap2:

2 holes left, Yang still leads by 1.

6:40 p.m. Oh, no! Woods crushes it over the green and into the spinach. He liked that one too.

6:38 p.m. Yang hits a 7-iron straight, maybe a little short. He'll have a long birdie putt.

6:35 p.m. Sports Illustrated's Dick Friedman, longtime Friend of the Blog, appreciates the fans at Hazeltine: It’s clear even through the TV that the fans in Minnesota are really savoring these last few holes. Of course, the minute the final putt drops, so does the first puck of the hockey season.

6:31 p.m. Yang misses right. Good-good. Yang has one-stroke lead going to the par-3 17th.

6:29 p.m. Tiger stalks his 30-footer on the 16th green. Lag putt, likely par. Yang will have 15-footer for two-shot lead.
