Ha, having seen two WC's been given away with still one left two days ago, I kind of hoped, but judging by the holiday pics on his website I pretty much buried my hopes ... all the more nicer, this surprise! Also a good sign I think, shows Tommy wants to secure some points.

Not to be underestimated on clay. Funny enough, they're current "ranking neighbours"; but Gremelmayr has just won one pro tour level match this year ...

Ah, who knows. On clay, there's really no prediction possible. ;)

I guess that can be good for us..Seems like all our predictions went wrong or at least haven't came out the way we wanted to :)

I am happy to see the 1st one taken, knowing the fact Gremelmayr is hard to beat on clay am I right..you guys should know better..

timoe
04-07-2009, 07:10 PM
Gremelmayr is not very consistent, but can play really well on clay. Last year he beat Nieminen, Blake, Tursunov, Almagro (!), Chardy and took a set off both Federer and Djokovic. So yes, a win for Tommy would be really nice here. And here is the rebreak! :)

Lugburz
04-07-2009, 07:10 PM
wow.Tommy breaks to love..nicee

Yes Gremelmayr is not bad on clay, but he''s such an inconsistent player.

Tommy breaks back...

Ha, here we have Tommy's first win on clay this year. Cool. Next one probably Granollers, way tougher on clay I guess. But who knows ... Pity we don't have live images; I'm so curious how Tommy really does on clay right now ...

Lugburz
04-07-2009, 07:37 PM
Well Granollers is a defending champion,so that's the real test for our guy ;)

At least on clay he wins
Good win though, Gremelmayer had some good matches on clay last year (3 sets against Fed and 4 tight sets against Djokovic)
Vamos Tommy!! Good luck next round! :)

Wow that's weird.. I'd love it if he moved to Head, they're my favorite company, but if he did so why having a Dunlop logo?
Any ideas guys?

Holy smokes I can't believe it  Here I was feeling so bad about Tommy and his tennis I hadn't even wanted to come into the Forum so I didn't. But then I saw Tommy's name in a scoring site, which I also had not been looking at for the same reason I hadn't been coming here. And now I find out that Tommy is not only in a Tournament, but has won a Match since I have been away is amazing and wonderful news to me :yippee: :)

well done Tommy :)

he never played against Phau, too bad that we cannot see this...but it's the same procedure like every year in Houston :(

thefly
04-10-2009, 10:40 AM
Funny, no seed left in the quaterfinals. That makes Tommy and maybe Hewitt pretty much the stars of the event.

Ah, one more win and then a little break from the exhausting clay - until Munich I guess - I could live with that. Very well. Although ... Isner or Odesnik in a possible semi are also very doable ...

I guess the next three Masters on clay aren't an option for Tommy, right? Maybe if he asked for a WC, but I don't see it ...

04-10-2009, 02:35 PM
Congrats, 2 victories on clay, that's really good for Tommy.

Now it's another German. After today I think Tommy should win this, no matter that Phau is better ranked than Tommy right now (lol) ... well, see you later. ;)

It's tight right now between Isner and Odesnik. I think I would prefer Odesnik in a semi against Tommy; although he's higher ranked than Isner, Isner's been the better competitor this year so far (Odesnik has won his first pro tour level matches this year in Housten this week); on the other hand, Isner could be way less dangerous on clay than he can be on hard court ... ah what the hell, I take it either way, as long as Tommy gets to the semis. ;)

by now it looks like Odesnik will be it, anyway. :)

Lugburz
04-10-2009, 09:03 PM
yup Odesnik is in the semis,,woow I wish Tommy can win tonight !

back in top 80... these were some very importand points.. if he gets a wildcard for Munich now and collects at least a few points at Roland Garros and Wimbledon the direct acceptance for small tournaments like LA or Washington should be no problem again

I hope you are right, kiwi, not only for him but, because I am in Wash., for me! It's always great to watch him play and he has a lot of fans here. Who knows, maybe Pres. Obama will come out to Legg-Mason this year! :D
