I have listed the potential opponents for sweden:

Netherlands, at home,beatable at home

Chile, at home, also beatable on a carpet at home

Brazil,at home,easy win

Ecuador, away, difficult and very tricky, clay court in south america

Japan, at home, easy win OR Uzbekistan, by lot, but also easy win

Italy, at home, difficult, cause italy has more talent, but with Söderling, sweden should win

Belarus, at home, easy win OR South Africa, away, difficult, but not impossible

Ukraine, by lot, but beatable

So, only at Ecuador, maybe at South Africa and vs Italy it will be difficult. But all depends on,if we have a fit team, with Söderling,Lindstedt,Aspelin and Johansson.

Thanks for that. I hope we get an easy draw and that Söderling is fit.

I feared a much more tougher draw...but this looks good i think. Nothing is won, and we need Robin for sure, but with him...it should be all done.

I agree with you, if Söderling is fit we should be able to make it (I hope :p)

I am really wondering that Söderling is in the Main Draw of Indian Wells this week....

There is a bit of a feud between PimPim and the DC captains right now. Not exactly what the team needs, but here goes...

Program for the tie Sweden - Romania:

Friday: Vinciguerra - Hanescu, Söderling - Crivoi

Saturday: Lindstedt/Aspelin - Copil/Tecau

Sunday: Söderling - Hanescu, Vinciguerra - Crivoi

I'm curious on how the thoughts went regarding this slow HC in use. Sure, it suits Vinc, but it should suit Hanescu and Crivoi as well.

Oh well. Söderling should be able to hit through the court anyway.

1-1 after the first day.

Hanescu b. Vinci 7/6(5) 7/6(10) Ret.

Söderling b. Crivoi 6/2 6/1 7/5

Robin looked mighty confident as he blew Crivoi off the court for almost the entire match, but he got a little carried away in the third as relaxed too much, and Crivoi broke him twice, the second time when Robin was serving for the match at 5/4. Still, impressive that Robin didn't let that get to his head and broke again and served it out.

Andreas played really well and was pumped up, but lacked the edge in the breakers, despite having lots of chances in the second one. Then he twisted his right ankle during the first game of the third set and was in a lot of pain. I hope he's good to go for Sunday, cause we don't have any great alternates.

Wilander said it was decided this morning to let Robin start, as he has been looking so impressive and confident as of late. It's paying off well so far with the first set in the bag 6/1. Also, Romania is playing with Hanescu instead of Copil.

The key here is that Robin can't get too relaxed as he often does when things are going so easy. I'd be surprised if the Romanians won't raise their level, and I'm sure Wilander has pressed on that.

In the end of second and third set I was sooooo nervous. We are a better country than Romania so it's a good thing if we make it

Robin beat up poor Victor good as soon as he got a hold on the Romanian's second serve. 7/5 6/1 6/0. A complete beatdown.

back in world group :woohoo:

but I am afraid it will be a horrible draw. Sweden should be No 9 so they wont be seeded.

They only will have a home tie if the play Germany or Russia. Croatia by lot? All the other seeded teams like ESP, USA, ARG and so on would be away. :awww:

Germany would be awesome. <dreaming off>

The Draw will be made on Wednesday.

If Vinc and PimPim are both able to come back we have a strong, versatile squad. Söderling/Vinciguerra for matches played on slow surfaces/clay and Söderling/J. Johansson for fast surfaces.

A home tie against Russia would be great. Since i can see us having a great chance in that match regardless of who's playing for Russia :) Söderling alonside Pim Pim indoors and with perhaps Lindstedt/Söderling, and Vinci as a backup in the team would be great  ;)

they would play Argentina at home, Russia away.

I prefer Argentina, only DelPotro is a big weapon, but Robin can beat him, or Germany also it will be tough, or again Israel...even on their soil...we played both times without Robin...

Nope, if we meet Russia it'll be at home, alteast that's what was said to be the case this year before the Isreal match. And i don't see why it would change now since we never met them this year. :)

2002 Sweden played in Russland, so they would be meet them at home next time.

And yes ARG would be at home too :) I forgot they met last year in Argentina.

so 3 possible ties in Sweden, one per lot against Croatia, or did these teams already played each other?
