The celebration after the first set def. seemed to me like it did that. He got broken straight into the second set. Agree once again, but these things are new not only for Nole, but the team, and the whole country. If they were like others who have already been there, done that many times, maybe they'd be better controlled too. And to add, they're generally more expressive than other people, anyways.

Why would anyone want to change him? I don't see the point of it. When he was being funny, they wanted him to be funnier - and we all saw how that evoluated  When he got more quiet and more serene because of that, it wasn't good either. He shows emotions again, and now he's acting it?

It was at 0:2 in 4th set TB. IIRC, he did it just in front of Pascal :tape: after failing to chase the ball around the net. I didn't notice there was a point penalty either. My stream was bad at the moment, so I just assumed Isner hit another ace. :o

I feel for Nole the HUGE pressure on his shoulder. How do a 22-23 years old carrying the whole nation on his back?

Also kudo to Isner :hatoff: This guy played over 10 hours of tennis over 3 days. And he still fought to the last point with a hugh blister on his serving hand where he grabbed the racket.

The first reserve in the Davis Cup quarterfinal battle, Croatia - Serbian upcoming weekend will be a brother of Novak Djokovic.

Serbia coach Bogdan Obradovic Bozoljcu allowed Elijah to travel to the tournament in Newport, and instead the team called Marko Djokovic, writes "Sports Journal".

"Eagles will fly to Split in the standard composition (Novak Djokovic Viktor Troicki, and Janko Tipsarevic Nenad Zimonjic), while Djokovic will be Jr. in the role of reserves and sparring partner in training.

Obradovic told "Journal" said that he was aware that Bozoljac represents a strong option in the event of unforeseen problems (such as the illness of a few players during the match against Russia in Moscow), but it was a human let him perform at the renowned tournament Grass, whose prize money 442 000 dollars.

"Ika is in good shape and it showed in vimbldonskom match with Federer. Due to the large number of failures, entered the main draw of the tournament in Newport, and for him it is a good opportunity to improve ratings. Supported by him, as we advised and coaches. It's all right, "he said Obradovic.

Let's hope that in the next seven days, good things take place and the team and Bozoljca, another is left us!

"Ika would be an additional guarantee, but this does not disturb anything. Mark is going as a sparring partner, if we needed to be more training," said Serbia coach Bogdan Obradovic.

Nobody wants to be there just as a hitting partner?

- The mood in the team is excellent, somehow, all the wear and cheerful and positive with Jankovic wedding, so we left it all just communicate on the ground - said Obradovic.

Croatian team yesterday held the first official press conference. Ivan Ljubicic tried to transfer favorite ball on the Serbian side.

- Led by Novak Djokovic, Serbia is certainly an advantage, but not likely to happen the first time that the favorite does not win the Davis Cup. I hope only that Karlovic will come and help us win - said Ljubicic.

Coach Goran Pripić did the first training Ljubičić, Marin Cilic, Antonio and John Veićem Dodik, and there was and Ivo Karlovic.

- Serbia is a very tough opponent and this match will be different from all previous. We are ready for what awaits us. Ljubicic, after several years decided to return and help his team any honor in that - said Prpic.

Djokovic: Serbian deserves the Davis Cup final

Novak Djokovic said today that Serbia Davis Cup team that has all the qualities of place in the finals of the competition, but also announced tough quarter-match World Group with Croatia, which is played on 9 to 11 July Split.

"It's a pity that Serbia and Croatia meet in the quarterfinals, because his qualities deserve a final. We had the most success and this is what we create will be a bonus. We know what our climate is expected to split and how to play before such an audience. Since I Played a lot of Grand Slam matches, I hope they will be of benefit, "said Djokovic.

Another one in the world noted that selection of Serbia, in which the doubles specialist Nenad Zimonjic, has a "better-ranked players, but also to the audience in Split can help the local team."

"Davis Cup is unpredictable, especially when you have guests. Even though our teniserii better ranking, it does not have to be a big advantage, because the audience is an additional stimulus. The match is played for three days and you never know what can happen. Most of the fear Ljubicic which this year managed to beat me and that's already won a Davis Cup, "said Djokovic.

The first player of the world in doubles Zimonjic said that the upcoming game "has no favorites."

"We are satisfied that we are among the best eight, but we want to pass on. Doubles play only the second day and both teams have good doubles. I played against all the players, winning and losing, so I think that there are no favorites." Said Zimonjic .

Serbian tennis team Srelektor Bogdan Obradovic said he was satisfied reception of Split.

"We have to get used to the hall and the conditions that await us," said Obradovic, who asked not to reveal the name of another player.

"I Troicki and Tipsarevic is in good shape. The decision on who will play will make in a few days." Obradovic said.

Croatia's Marin Cilic beat Serbia's Viktor Troicki 6-4, 7-5, 6-2 as the two rival Balkan nations finished the first day of their Davis Cup quarterfinal level at 1-1 on Friday.
Troicki wasted a 5-2 lead and a set point in the second set as Croatia's No. 1 Cilic rallied with five straight games on the hard court at Spaladium Arena.

"I started real well, but in the second set my serve deserted me," Cilic said. "With the crowd support and some luck, I managed to win that set."

In the opening singles match, Novak Djokovic had given Serbia a 1-0 lead by beating Ivan Ljubicic 7-6 (3), 6-4, 6-1.

No. 2-ranked Djokovic, a semifinalist at Wimbledon, squandered a 5-2 lead in the first set but took the tiebreaker with a reflex half-volley. He broke Ljubicic in the ninth game of the second set.

Djokovic broke the 16th-ranked Ljubicic three times in the third set and converted his first match point with a backhand down the line.

"It's good to start with a victory, it gives us a good chance to wrap up the series," Djokovic said.

"The crucial moment in the match was the tiebreaker," he said. "Ljubicic is a dangerous player, and who knows how the match would have developed if I had lost that clincher."

Ljubicic, who returned from a three-year Davis Cup retirement because of injuries to Mario Ancic and Ivo Karlovic, agreed.

"I felt he was a bit nervous in that tiebreaker, but I did not manage to profit by taking too much risk in some points," Ljubicic said.

Ljubicic had 11 double faults and 62 unforced errors, compared to Djokovic's 25 in the 2 hour, 27 minute match.

The two former Yugoslav republics, which fought a war in the 1990s, are meeting for the first time in the Davis Cup.

Croatia won the Cup in 2005. Serbia is playing in its first quarterfinals.

Croatia's fans booed and jeered and refused to stand when Serbia's national anthem was played, and some chanted "Kill the Serb" and other abuse at Djokovic.

"We had expected the heated atmosphere before we came here, but I'm sorry that some fans behaved the way they did at the start of the match," Djokovic said. "As the match progressed, things got a bit cooler probably because I was leading."

Ljubicic, a good friend of Djokovic, said he was also annoyed by the chants from the crowd. "They affected my concentration just as they did his," he said.

Doubles are played on Saturday and reverse singles on Sunday, when Djokovic is scheduled to meet Cilic in the opening match

He's almost unaffected by the noisy and hostile crowd, played quite some winners, and was wise enough to do a subdued version of celebration in front of the Croatian crowd! Of course it's helped by Marin being a huge bundle of nerves  :awww: I've never seen Marin being sooooo nervous.

(Google translator) DAVIS CUP: next year, Serbia among seeders :)

After the initial placement of the semi-final Davis Cup triumph and the Split of Croatia in the quarterfinals (4-1), our tennis team climbed to a record sixth on the list of the best teams the world.

Given that the victory in the first round for 2010. year, against the United States at the Arena (3-2), Serbia won automatic participation in the World Group for 2011. year, a breakthrough among the eight best teams on the DC list means that the "Eagles" at the next draw will be in the group of carriers, that will in the first round opponents will be able to get the teams placed just below the eighth place.

It certainly will not be Spain, Czech Republic, Argentina, Russia, USA, France ...

Eventual victory in the semifinals against last year's Davis Cup finalists, the Czech Republic, Novak, Nenad, Janko and Viktor well increase the number of points, for every victory in the Davis Cup is worth more if the opponent is better placed, and the Czechs are currently second.

Despite a convincing 5-0 defeat to the quarterfinals of the French, dismissed the Davis Cup champions Spain retained first place in the list and have 14000 points more than the Czechs, who advanced one position.

Argentina are third, that victory in Moscow, also entered the semifinals of this season, and there will again be guests and French.

Russia has fallen from second to fourth place, and the U.S. from fourth to fifth.

On the previous list, Serbia was in the tenth position, and is now ahead of France, Israel, Croatia, Germany, Sweden ...

New list, published at the end of ITF semi-final clashes of 17 to 19 September, when to play and duel for survival in the World Group between the teams, who were defeated in the first round (Switzerland, Germany, India, Sweden, Ecuador, United States, Israel and Belgium) and the winner of the competition in the zones (Colombia, Austria, South Africa , Italy, Brazil, Australia, Kazakhstan and Romania).

This kind of classification of national teams ITF introduced in 2001. and for a list of count results in a period of four years.

“I cannot hide the disappointment. It's just I'm not gonna cry or complain about that, you know. It's just the way it is. Of course, I am feeling bad about my loss. I wanted that trophy, and I know I gave my maximum to get it even tonight. But, you know, when I sleep over the night, tomorrow I will wake up as a new man. Djokovic in Belgrade: tired, but motivated

The best Serbian tennis player admits that is exhausted after the U.S. Open, but claims to be ready for the Davis Cup semifinals.

Novak Djokovic has arrived! U.S. Open finalist, who is a match for the trophy to Rafael Nadal ended the night between Monday and Tuesday, according to Central European Time, came to Belgrade and thoughts focused on the semi-finals of the World Group I Davis Cup.

It is clear that the best Serbian tennis tired after exhausting matches with Federer and Nadal, but he showed in New York is again in top form and will be deadly weapons against the Czechs (from Friday until Monday at the Belgrade Arena).

"I played a great tournament in New York, showed perhaps his best tennis in the last 12 months. I need to be satisfied with the tour in the States, I returned self-confidence and I am very happy about that," Djokovic told a news conference.

"I'm a bit exhausted, but it is quite natural. And for this historic match can always find extra motivation and energy ... but I'm ready for the first matches on Friday," said Novak.

Czech Republic to the match in Belgrade singles represent the seventh player Tomas Berdych of the world and experienced 31-year-old Radek Stepanek, who is 35 in the ATP rankings. Djokovic beat Stepanek in five of the previous six meetings, while Berdych won twice, but lost the final match in the semifinals of this year's Wimbledon.

"It's very well know them. Berdych is certainly the best player currently the Czech Republic and they rely on it. The game is probably the best season of career to date. We have certainly one of the best players in the world," said the second one in the world.

"At Wimbledon he played great, and I was bad. It is very aggressive and has izuetno good service," concluded Novak Djokovic.

Coach Bogdan Obradovic said that the success Djokovic at the U.S. Open is important for the whole team of Serbia.

"The most important thing is to train well and have a fantastic atmosphere in the team.'s Always going to win no matter what it sounds like to create pressure on the team. I believe in this team and I know that we can continue to the semi-finals," Obradovic said, adding that has no special desire to draw the layout matches, which will be held on Thursday.

The best Serbian doubles player Nenad Zimonjic recalled that the Czech Republic are currently second in the world rankings and the team that last year played a Davis Cup final which was defeated by Spain 0-5.

"Berdych is in the TOP 10, Stepanek and until recently was in the society. They are extremely experienced and well-coordinated and doubles. Last year, Berdych and Stepanek in pairs lost only one match and the finals," said Zimonjic who was Kanađinom Daniel Nestor this year, losing to Berdych and Stepanek in the first round in Washington.

Viktor Troicki said not to think about whether he or Janko Tipsarevic be another single player of Serbia.

"It does not matter who will play. It's important to ready for the match, to give our best and we take the point", said 47th tennis world, while ten of the better-ranked Tipsarevic said that just to see what the advantage of Serbia.

"In addition to Djokovic who can always take the two points, and Victor and I can play well, not only in singles but in doubles with Zimonjic. It is not important who is going to run out on the court. It is the first day to win by two points "said Tipsarevic.

Djokovic to play Stepanek in opening singles

U.S. Open runner-up Novak Djokovic of Serbia will play Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic in the opening singles of their Davis Cup semifinal. Djokovic only returned to the Serbian capital from New York on Wednesday and acknowledged being “emotionally and physically” drained after his final loss to Rafael Nadal.

“It’s not the easiest thing to deal with, but I don’t have time to think about it,” Djokovic said after Thursday’s draw. “I am confident I’ll be ready, I’ve been in that situation before.”

In the Fridays’s second singles on the indoor hard court of the Belgrade Arena, Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia will play Wimbledon runner-up Tomas Berdych. Stepanek was once in the Top 10, but has fallen to No. 35 and has been battling a left-knee injury for much of the year.

“Definitely I am ready, otherwise I would not be on board,” Stepanek said. “The matches I played with Novak were close and great battles and I don’t expect anything else on Friday.

“He is back at No. 2 in the world and he’s gained his confidence back. But I also believe in myself.”

Djokovic has a 5-1 career record against Stepanek.

“We’ve played a lot against each other on the tour but the Davis Cup is a different occasion,” said Djokovic, who is seeking to lead Serbia into its first Davis Cup final. “He is very experienced in the competition, he has a lot of variety on his game. He can attack and he can be defensive.”

Berdych hopes to celebrate his 25th birthday on Friday by earning a point for the Czech Republic, which is seeking to reach back-to-back finals of the competition for the fist time.

“The last match I played Janko was easy for me,” said Berdych, the top-ranked Czech player who is No. 7 in the world. “This is going to be completely different. A home crowd will be behind him and he played some good tennis recently. He beat Andy Roddick at the U.S. Open, which is always difficult.”

Berdych has a 2-1 record against Tipsarevic, who is ranked No. 37. Their last match at a tournament last year in Florida ended in a 6-0, 6-4 win for Berdych.

“Tomas is playing his best season but he lost in the first round of the U.S. Open and he skipped the week before that so he hasn’t played for nearly a month,” Tipsarevic said.

The doubles are scheduled for Saturday, with reverse singles of the best-of-five series on Sunday. In the doubles, Nenad Zimonjic and Viktor Troicki of Serbia are slated to face Jan Hajek and Ivo Minar of the Czech Republic, although the lineups can be changed until an hour before the match. Zimonjic, Serbia’s doubles star ranked No. 3 in the world, said he expected a different Czech pair in the doubles.

“I am nearly a 100 percent sure that they will play Berdych and Stepanek in the doubles,” Zimonjic said.

On Sunday, Djokovic is slated to play Berdych and Tipsarevic to face Stepanek, although team captains can change their picks, again until an hour before start of play.
