I don't do patriotism myself but the atmosphere here is terrific with the band and the trumpeters and makes the occasion specialand different from a normal match. Goes with the territory when playing for one's country surely - I can't see anything malicious in the crowd yet.

Guests have had breakfast and are going out...:D

If I was sitting next to that trumpeter, he would already have had that trumpet shoved where the sun don't shine  :p

:haha: I always go to support Belgium in football when they play at home, and I can be sure that I'll sit next to one of those in advance  We played Spain a couple of months ago, so our supporters had to come up with all their noisy things to shut up the whole Spanish trumpet-armada. It was horrible :sobbing: :p But it sounds quite okay like this, on a livestream.

Well - if he loses this it's all over anyway so he won't play Rafa and can get to IW earlier.

He needs to keep the impetus and confidence from winning DUbai, to take it into defending IW back on hard courts, - so (I know most people won't agree with me here), but I truly don't want him to play Nadal on clay in Spain. It will destroy his confidence even more - just get it over with, get back on hard court and leave the trumpeters and jeerers to jeer alone :p

I had a 1st meeting/training for Universiade volunteers this morning, so I came back home only to see a half of the third set.
Seems that David played really well. And Novak made too many UEs...

Pretty good synopsis I would say. Of course GM is full of the usual haters slagging Nole off and giving David litle credit  It's all about their obsessional hatred of Nole - nothing else  But the little Spanish guy did play well - he's a better clay court player, and, on the day, he deserved to win

Now PLEASE Janko (sorry venomous moment coming up here :o ) - I know you have no chance - but go and scare that vile, a*se-picker and create the shock of the year :p Nothing could make me happier :)

Janko has his fair share of haters here too (many of them some of my "favourite" people :spit: on MTF ) - so his win would be doubly joyful for me. And - besides - he may take his shirt off if he wins :D Sadly, it won't happen though :tears:

On balance, am happier that he beat Ferrer last Saturday to win Dubai. This one - well a win would have been nice but it was a lost cause. Bothers me how bad he was though.

Danger is, as has already been said by several, that this knocks him badly for IW. If so he could well go out early and that would be terrible, both points and morale-wise. :scared:

Definitely no doubles please for Nole. Still trying to work out why he looked so totally discombobulated today. I know it was a surface switch from Dubai but was the same for David. Nole's normally pretty good on clay and presumably he practises on it in MC so it can hardly have been the first clay outing since last Spring.

Doom and destruction. Nole's forehand and serve have refused to join him on court today.

Good thing I missed it. I was so angry because my selfdefence classes got rescheduled, but it turned out not to be such a bad thing.:tape: I hate watching him play with his tactical game completely off.:( He used to be such a smart point constructor, now he's all 10000000 DODs in a row if he can't make it from the baseline.

Has he ever come back from 2-0 down? Don't think so. I'm actually quite surprised he put up a fight in the 3rd. And what in the God's name is happening to him in these TB's of late? He's losing them waaay tooo often.

Tie-break....I'm feeling kind of ambivalent now.
If Zimonjic/Troicki win, then I can finally watch my favorite Rafa/Nole matchup (although Nole will lose almost certainly).
However, given Nole's present state, it could be another psychological blow if he loses badly. But of coz if he plays okay (e.g. 4-6 5-7 6-7) he will have more confidence again for IW.

They would probably play him no matter it's a live rubber or not, I guess

Well yeah, if it's a dead rubber they'll play him for sure :rolls:

I will not hold my breath with this tie and this team. They'll probably play Janko again because of his Davis Cup experience

:help: Oh no, another Spain-Serbia day. Well, I would like to enjoy it...but something tells me I won't :tape: Although I really think Nole will get some magical motivation-boost while sleeping like a cute baby :bounce: :awww:

Ajde! I'll say this for the first time in my life: beat those damn Spaniards! Show them what you're made of, Serbia :rocker2:

I saw Nenad and Viktor win the first set and had to leave. I see they came through in straights. :clap2: On one hand, I'm happy for Serbia since now they'll avoid getting swept. That's always nice. :) But, I'm really not looking forward to Nole playing Rafa. I wasn't looking forward to it period, but after today I'm :scared:. Hopefully, Nole will be more together tomorrow and will put in a good effort. Victory is a lot to ask for, too much I suspect. I really just hope it isn't too bad of a loss. :awww:

It's 1am for me, or is it 2? Well, if it's 1am, I may stay up but really don't know as I need to do more shopping and lots of cooking before I leave for Indian Wells on Tuesday.

I suddenly have this crazy idea that the captain is so pissed by the performance of Nole and Janko today that he replaced them with Viktor and Nenad in singles tomorrow. :haha:

They'll substitute Viktor for Novak so he can have the shot at Nadal he was WRONGLY DENIED :p

And then Nenad would go in for Janko against Ferrer. Idemo! :rocker2: :)

I made it through til the end of the first set of the doubles before I fell asleep. I must admit, I was hoping for them to win so I could see Nadal v. Djokovic. If Nole can bring his A-game he can certainly give Nadal a bit of competition. I don't want him to always be running scared from Nadal. And if this loss (no way he can beat Nadal on clay) defeats his morale and ruins the confidence from Dubai, well, he really is not the player I think he is  I want to see some fight in him...like when he didnt give up against Ferrer. Just fight Nole...that's all I ask! Ajde!

Will be back tonight for the match.

No, only America doing this weekend.

You're supposed to move ahead an hour at 2am to 3am. And the match will start at 4am then.

Oops, from my world clock converter, it's 6am

It will be pretty confusing for me here since there's no time change for me, so would it be 1am or 2am? :rolls:

4 am doesn't sound right. That would be 9:00 am over there. When does the match start local time? I thought it starts at 11

Edit: I see you edited your post. So it starts at 6:00 am EST. That would be 2:00 am your time, if you are not moving the clock ahead.

I thought it was starting at 5 am on east coast. We were 6 hrs behind, now we'll be 5. It starts at 10 am, which would be 5 here. Right? I hate the time change. Every time it confuses me.

I just checked Nole's website, and it does say 10:00 am (I thought it was 11:00 am). So that makes it 5 :00 EST, 2: 00 am in Arizona

I think they start early today at 10am so they can squeeze in the doubles match which they did so there's no need to start at 10am again today since there will only be 2 singles matches and :tape: one of them may be a dead rubber.

Glad it's settled! :yeah: Good thing you checked Nole's site. I was :silly: and went on the official Davis Cup site. It still has 3 days of play, with tomorrow's beginning at 11 am. Good thing they're on top of things! (though I really shouldn't be surprised. the davis cup site has never been informative IMO.)

No. I can't anything official either. In fact, offical site has 11 am, but this article from Marca says it starts 10 am. I actually trust Marca over the official site.

http://www.marca.com/2009/03/07/tenis/copa_davis/1236447271.html
