why does it say the olympics goes from the 9th to the 15th august. Doesn't the olympics go for 2 weeks? are those dates incorrect? and will i be able to see the atp players in the opening ceremony?

The tennis competition only runs for 8 days (15th to the 22nd inclusive), not the whole length of the Olympics. I would imagine that all the tennis players will be there in time for the opening ceremony next Friday (unless anyone is still playing in Sopot).

Remembering previous years - the Opening Ceremony is so big with so many people taking part, that it's difficult to spot anyone specific apart from the person who is carrying the flag for each country. Guess you'll just have to set the VCR and look for J-C later at your leisure :)

Stupid ATP mistake. The tennis tournament in Athens is from 15 to 22 August.

I heard Bryan brothers being interviewed on the radio this morning and they said they'd be there with their camcorders ready. They were saying how a lot of players actually opt out of participating in the opening ceremonies because it such a long time to stand and the athletes don't want to get tired. I wonder if all the American tennis players will participate. I can't believe the opening ceremonies are already here, starts friday at 8pm on nbc...sweet.

The seedings should be announced today, according to the ITF' report . ..I’m looking for that..

The Draw will be made on the 12th Thursday 11 am in Athens, in the presence of ITF president Francisco Ricci Bitti.

Serena Williams out of Olympics. Replaced by Samantha Stosur.

From the Olympics website,

ATHENS, 11 August - Serena WILLIAMS (USA), gold medalist in women's Doubles at the Sydney Olympic Games, has withdrawn from the Athens Olympic Games. The reason has not yet been announced.

WILLIAMS was suffering from a left knee injury, which had forced her to withdraw from tournaments in San Diego and Montreal.

Her place in the Women's Singles will go to Australian Samantha STOSUR.
