from the stats it seems that Fish is serving REALLY well lately, might run with the title tomorrow :yeah:

Roddick owns him, so it's very unlikely.

Yes
Got massaged the leg after first set, and had bad face in the whole match. He couldn't move well

James had his ankle taped twice - after the 3rd game and between sets. He couldn't move or change directions. I didn't notice until the 2nd set that James wasn't crouching when waiting for Fish to serve - he was standing up straight which was weird. It made me suspect his back was bothering him too. His injuries this week are approaching Djokovic numbers.

Good luck to Fish in the final! :yeah:

Did Blake withdraw from doubles?

Haven't seen anything official, but i'm sure they will, it sounds as though James's ankle was much worse than anyone thought

But good for James for sticking in there all the way to the end.

ETA: After reading the article in Deb's post. Even more power to James.

Sorry, yes they did pull out of doubles.. two exhibitions instead:

James has never retired from a match. As many things as he does that bothers me, that is extremely respectable (even though it sounds like he maybe shouldn't have continued today)

I watched the 2nd set, and Blake's movement was extremely limited. I don't think he made his injury a lot worse by continuing, as he was barely walking around the court and trying to hit winners from the first semi-opportunity.

A great tournament for Fish though :) A couple of quality wins there.

Hope Blake recovers quickly to play in Memphis.

I'm sure Haas, Stepanek and Fish won't mind.

I think Blake remembered how Fish spanked J-Block last year at the U.S. Open... This was even more one sided. Fish is actually a good hard court player. I think he would beat Fed yet again if they meet. He even took a set off Nadal last year if I can remember. Blake is done. He won't win another decent tournament ever!

Sad about James, but congrats to Mardy. A Mardy/Andy final would be great. :yeah:

Get well soon James!

Terrible match to watch. James limping everywhere and barely getting any balls back into play. He must've sprained his ankle terribly in the last match. But I am impressed that he, along with Federer, have never retired from a match in their careers. :worship:

Good luck to Mardy in the final.

James was clearly injured and could barely move. He had to try to hit winners at every opportunity. I understand that he wanted to stay out there for the crowd, but he really should have retired. There's just no point in continuing when you can barely play, even though some people may call it admirable. It isn't a good show to see someone limping around instead of playing proper tennis, and it may risk worsening the injury.
