Anyone know anything about this? I saw this at the Brazil Open as well as ABN AMRO, surely the players wouldn't vote for an eye sore like that. I can't stand it.
Irritating logo on the netuNIVERSE mAN 02-12-2009, 08:54 PM Anyone know anything about this? I saw this at the Brazil Open as well as ABN AMRO, surely the players wouldn't vote for an eye sore like that. I can't stand it. Yves. 02-12-2009, 09:03 PM What do you mean exactly? maconick 02-12-2009, 09:05 PM yer seems to be at all tournaments from now on JMG 02-12-2009, 09:56 PM Yes, it was tested and started in Heilbronn & Carson and they want to do this in all ATP tournaments. Yves. 02-12-2009, 10:00 PM Yes, it was tested and started in Heilbronn & Carson and they want to do this in all ATP tournaments. Oh, in the net :o docking34 02-13-2009, 12:09 AM god that logo is ugly to look at. rubbish. Voo de Mar 02-13-2009, 12:10 AM Yeah, very wrong idea with the logo. I think it's even more distrubing for the players because they see reversal letters from the one side of the net :o Laba 02-13-2009, 01:02 AM It's useless. smitty8 02-13-2009, 01:21 AM It's ugly and distracting. Ilovetheblues_86 02-13-2009, 01:33 AM I don´t find distracting at all. Nathalia 02-13-2009, 01:42 AM First it was the "what a beautiful view from the spaceship" new look of the ATP website. Got used to it. Now this huge, useless, annoying logo on the net. The carnival of bad taste continues. GugaF1 02-13-2009, 02:02 AM You guys need to get out more....lol... Xristos 02-13-2009, 04:49 AM I agree. It is very annoying. HattonWBA 02-13-2009, 07:13 AM Who cares it is just a net sammy01 02-13-2009, 08:35 AM im so retarded i thought it was superimpossed like the score on the screen lol, it really is a waste of time and ugly to see. ORGASMATRON 02-13-2009, 10:53 AM I saw it at Joburg too it was annoying. Venle 02-13-2009, 04:28 PM I watched Zagreb last week and today Brazil Open. It really, really annoys me, the logo. And probably the players too! I think they should have a word on that. I miss the basic, "classic net" :o GlennMirnyi 02-13-2009, 05:18 PM You guys need to get out more....lol... And you need to stop fanboying the ATP and take your head off their a**es. kalisita 02-13-2009, 06:47 PM I watched Zagreb last week and today Brazil Open. It really, really annoys me, the logo. And probably the players too! I think they should have a word on that. I miss the basic, "classic net" :o I believe that Federer and Nadal tested the net out at either IW or Miami and that neither of them were fond of it. But, I don't think it really matters to the ATP if the players like it or not. I miss the basic net too. Im sure I'll get used to this, but it can be annoying. It's not too bad for this week's tournaments, but last week in Zagreb it was really distracting since the color of the court really caused the logo to stand out. I found my eyes drawn to it. MrExcel 02-13-2009, 07:52 PM Yeah, very wrong idea with the logo. I think it's even more distrubing for the players because they see reversal letters from the one side of the net :o Unless I'm going mad, from the reverse side it looks exactly the same! I'm not sure how they've done it, as the net around the letters (and the letters themselves) are see through. But when you see a reverse camera angle it looks the same as from the front. Anyone else noticed that? trixtah 02-13-2009, 08:28 PM pics or it didn't happen decrepitude 02-13-2009, 08:44 PM Unless I'm going mad, from the reverse side it looks exactly the same! I'm not sure how they've done it, as the net around the letters (and the letters themselves) are see through. But when you see a reverse camera angle it looks the same as from the front. Anyone else noticed that? I must say I had the same impression, but it seems impossible! MrExcel 02-13-2009, 09:08 PM pics or it didn't happen Are you referring to my post? I had a quick look but its difficult to find a good pic of each end which includes the net and where you can actually tell the difference between each end! If anyone finds a couple though please post them as it does seem impossible! federernadalfan 02-13-2009, 09:32 PM they should get rid of it for sure Saumon 02-13-2009, 09:48 PM I must say I had the same impression, but it seems impossible! Right after I read MrExcel's post, I checked during a replay and it's indeed possible to read it on both sides. MrExcel 02-13-2009, 10:05 PM Right after I read MrExcel's post, I checked during a replay and it's indeed possible to read it on both sides. That's definately how it is, but how! The net and letters on it are see-through, so how don't we see the other letters on the other side? tangerine_dream 02-13-2009, 10:16 PM Too damn distracting. http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg316/Tennis-Art/RODDICK%20Andy/3268412067_245d5eb80c.jpg decrepitude 02-13-2009, 10:39 PM It is there, I suppose? Not just superimposed by the cameras? Come on, those of you who have been to a tournament live, let us into the secret! star 02-13-2009, 10:41 PM I hate it. And  Do they think we don't know it's an ATP match??? What's the point? KarlyM 02-13-2009, 10:49 PM Too damn distracting. http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg316/Tennis-Art/RODDICK%20Andy/3268412067_245d5eb80c.jpg That is distracting. :help: It's not like the ATP is desperate for money and absolutely needs to put a company logo on it. They just put the new tour name on it! Why don't they put it on the netposts or the back wall? peacechick 02-14-2009, 11:11 AM It is there, I suppose? Not just superimposed by the cameras? Come on, those of you who have been to a tournament live, let us into the secret! Yes, it is actually there, nothing to do with the cameras :p I must say it didn't really bother me while watching  Ilovetheblues_86 02-14-2009, 01:30 PM It may be distracting for the crowd, but not for the players, they don´t look on the net whila playing. decrepitude 02-14-2009, 01:43 PM Yes, it is actually there, nothing to do with the cameras :p I must say it didn't really bother me while watching  It doesn't really bother me either, though I would rather it was not there. It looks naff. But I am really fascinated that it looks exactly the same on both sides! How on earth is it done? trixtah 02-14-2009, 10:15 PM Are you referring to my post? I had a quick look but its difficult to find a good pic of each end which includes the net and where you can actually tell the difference between each end! If anyone finds a couple though please post them as it does seem impossible! haha nope, was just too lazy to look for some clearer shots than the ones I saw myself but now that I've seen it in it's entirety, doesn't look that distracting after all pogotheorist 02-14-2009, 11:38 PM It doesn't really bother me either, though I would rather it was not there. It looks naff. But I am really fascinated that it looks exactly the same on both sides! How on earth is it done? Nothing to it - all they do is paint the strings. Paint is only on one side of the string. MrExcel 02-15-2009, 12:25 PM Nothing to it - all they do is paint the strings. Paint is only on one side of the string. The letters are solid, if you look at the holes in the net there's plastic (or whatever they're made from) there! Venle 02-15-2009, 12:34 PM I believe that Federer and Nadal tested the net out at either IW or Miami and that neither of them were fond of it. It's not too bad for this week's tournaments, but last week in Zagreb it was really distracting since the color of the court really caused the logo to stand out. I found my eyes drawn to it. Yeah, it's kinda odd that players' opinions don't matter to them. After all, it's the players that have to stand the new net, not the ATP members  Me too  I was thinking all the time "they gotta be kidding me, it's awful!" But they seem to be serious with it  :help: uNIVERSE mAN 02-15-2009, 01:01 PM It'd look backwards on the other side of the net, but since the camera is only on the one side that's intended for the tv viewers obviously. MrExcel 02-15-2009, 01:12 PM It'd look backwards on the other side of the net, but since the camera is only on the one side that's intended for the tv viewers obviously. No there's been plenty of reverse camera angles/photos showing it's the same both sides. peacechick 02-15-2009, 03:37 PM Yup, I've been there and seen it :p It's perfectly normal on both sides Yappa 02-15-2009, 04:20 PM What annoys me even more, is the scoreboard with the big new ATP logo for the Brasil Open. I guess that's supposed to be the new scoreboard for all ATP 250 events? It's way too huge and distracting. pogotheorist 02-16-2009, 07:48 PM The letters are solid, if you look at the holes in the net there's plastic (or whatever they're made from) there! Optical illusion. If it were true, you'd be able to see the shape of the backwards letters on the other side - and there's no hint of it. MrExcel 02-16-2009, 08:21 PM Optical illusion. If it were true, you'd be able to see the shape of the backwards letters on the other side - and there's no hint of it. I see what you mean about the optical illusion thing. If I were allowed to post a Getty Images pic of Murray standing at the net (which I don't think I can?) I think it proves you right :) peacechick 02-16-2009, 09:05 PM not murray, not getty, but no solid letters either :D Henry Chinaski 02-16-2009, 09:10 PM It looks shit and it's pointless but it's no big deal. It'd be worse if it said Coca Cola or something which I guess is what the ATP is hoping for in the longer term. uNIVERSE mAN 02-23-2009, 10:46 AM Is it me, or has the logo been reduced in visibility in the Dubai Championships? delpiero7 02-23-2009, 10:52 AM I agree. It's either that or we must have got used to seeing the logo on the net so it doesn't bother as much as before. MurrayFan1 02-23-2009, 11:23 AM I like it. I dunno how much I'd notice it if I was playing, surely they look more at the ball as oppossed to the bottom of the net. uNIVERSE mAN 02-23-2009, 12:16 PM or maybe it was the angle of the sun, it magically reappeared! | |
