Irritating logo on the net

Anyone know anything about this? I saw this at the Brazil Open as well as ABN AMRO, surely the players wouldn't vote for an eye sore like that. I can't stand it.

Yeah, very wrong idea with the logo. I think it's even more distrubing for the players because they see reversal letters from the one side of the net :o

First it was the "what a beautiful view from the spaceship" new look of the ATP website. Got used to it.
Now this huge, useless, annoying logo on the net. The carnival of bad taste continues.

I believe that Federer and Nadal tested the net out at either IW or Miami and that neither of them were fond of it. But, I don't think it really matters to the ATP if the players like it or not. :shrug:

I miss the basic net too. :sad: Im sure I'll get used to this, but it can be annoying. It's not too bad for this week's tournaments, but last week in Zagreb it was really distracting since the color of the court really caused the logo to stand out. I found my eyes drawn to it.

Unless I'm going mad, from the reverse side it looks exactly the same! I'm not sure how they've done it, as the net around the letters (and the letters themselves) are see through. But when you see a reverse camera angle it looks the same as from the front. Anyone else noticed that?

I had a quick look but its difficult to find a good pic of each end which includes the net and where you can actually tell the difference between each end!

If anyone finds a couple though please post them as it does seem impossible!

It may be distracting for the crowd, but not for the players, they don´t look on the net whila playing.

haha nope, was just too lazy to look for some clearer shots than the ones I saw myself but now that I've seen it in it's entirety, doesn't look that distracting after all

The letters are solid, if you look at the holes in the net there's plastic (or whatever they're made from) there!

Yeah, it's kinda odd that players' opinions don't matter to them. After all, it's the players that have to stand the new net, not the ATP members :shrug:

No there's been plenty of reverse camera angles/photos showing it's the same both sides.

What annoys me even more, is the scoreboard with the big new ATP logo for the Brasil Open. I guess that's supposed to be the new scoreboard for all ATP 250 events? It's way too huge and distracting.

I see what you mean about the optical illusion thing. If I were allowed to post a Getty Images pic of Murray standing at the net (which I don't think I can?) I think it proves you right :)

It looks shit and it's pointless but it's no big deal. It'd be worse if it said Coca Cola or something which I guess is what the ATP is hoping for in the longer term.

I agree. It's either that or we must have got used to seeing the logo on the net so it doesn't bother as much as before.

I like it. I dunno how much I'd notice it if I was playing, surely they look more at the ball as oppossed to the bottom of the net.

or maybe it was the angle of the sun, it magically reappeared!
