Ivan Lendl was without doubt the best player of the 80s. Was the dominant player of his era who transferred the baton to Sampras who transferred it to Federer.

The "father of modern tennis" as he's been called, reached 18 grand slam finals, winning eight, putting him ahead of contempories such as McEnroe, Becker, Wilander and Edberg.

Has a 23-16 head to head record over the second most dominant player of the 80s John McEnroe and achieved it without resorting to cheating and unsportsmanlike behaviour.

What a player!
