Yet another upset and yet another dissapointing result from Gulbis

what wrong with that croats,1st veic than dodig?
that were first wins on atp level for both of them,i don't have words.
1st veic came back from set down against canas(canas was injured),than came back from set down against korolev.
than dodig win against great player such as andreev,than against gulbis(he is even better than andreev) in straight sets(he is neighbour of cilic in međugorje and one of the best friend,soo it's must be fluid of cilic).
every day one new croat.last month it was tomic,croat from australia.that's too much.
very soon it will be krajinovic,croat from sombor(from town where i was born),serbia.

4 croats in quaters of same tournament(8. seed is no. 39,that is very good tournament,the best in this week),great.last year ancic,ljubicic,karlovic were in semis.

Honestly, in all the time I have followed professional mens tennis this closely, I haven't come across a more overrated player. Yes, Gulbis has talent, but time after time after time he keeps making the same mistakes in general approach (not that I have seen this particular match, mind...but it was probably the same old shit).

Anyway, this strange week of results continues...congrats to Dodig. ;)

I didn't lose anything by giving my opinion. I am at the end of my patience with a guy who yes has talent...but for wasting talent.. He wouldn't know what hell was if it hit him in the face,but I have a feeling he's going to find out...

Watch the match,I'm glad as hell I didn't. A trip to the dentist is much more enjoyable than watching that guy throw his talent down the nearest garbage shoot in front of paying spectators. Disgraceful.

As for Dodig,he's made sure he'll achieve more than Erno will,because he WANTS it more.

I don't think that Gulbis is overrated in terms of his technique. He's got big game and good shots, actually he's got all to be a great player imo.

He's got spoiled mentality however. He isn't a fighter and imo he doesn't care if he loses or not (maybe I am wrong here). I think that all he needs is a kick in the ass and should be fine. He is still young.

Imo, I reckon there were a good few that fell off the Young "hype wagon" after his first few performances as a WC in ATP events.

But with Gulbis, the hype just never seems to end...each week there are the same comments made about him, and his tournament prospects (probably by the same blinded posters). Watch closely next week... :tape:

Gasquet has one of the worst forehands in the top 50 and you're telling me he should have won a GS? You're walking on thin ice, mate. As good as his backhand is, it doesn't automatically make him a great player.

I don't think so but already last year it was a surprise with Stakhovsky winning the tournament, I remember.

But other semi-finalists were Ljubicic, Ancic and Karlovic, I think.

And Petzschner and Kunitsyn have also won greater tournaments.

dodig(he was born 2.4.1985) was at career-high no. 256(15.10.2007).
he was mainly injured last year,so jusr foe that reason he was down.
soo i presume he would be in top 200(maybe close to top 100) without that injuries.

with this result he will be about no. 353.

he beated wessels(in that time no. 151) and golubev (in that time no. 132) in qualies of marseille last year.

the commentator on croatian televeison said that gulbis played really well but he said dodig was even better.he said he is really good.

Well, don't take it word for word. The interview got to the Latvian media via the Croatian journalist so it was probably translated from English to Latvian, then back to English. So some things may be inaccurate.

Gulbis's tendency to get upset about line calls and lose his concentration because of that is nothing new unfortunately. He should learn to live with them.

Is it just me or does Gulbis only play at his best level against top 10 players? When he's up against people below the top 100 he puts on cruise control which obviously doesn't work very well..
