Andy Roddick (semifinalist), a former Ozeki, gets promoted to Sekiwake (Junior Champion I) from Komusubi (Junior Champion II)

Andy Murray (R4) gets demoted to Komusubi from Sekiwake


Fernando Verdasco (seminfinalist) and Juan Martin del Potro (quarterfinalist) get promoted to Komusubi, the first sanyaku rank in either player's career.

Thus we are back to 7 sanyaku ranked players, from a record low of 5 after the US Open.
