Excellent fight back from Lacko having been a set and a break down, and also saving a match point in the second set tie break, lacko looks a very solid player, however Mario still came through in the end, well done Mario keep it going:worship:

Poor Lacko, last year lost in Davis Cup two extreme five-setters, and now this. Had triple BP at 4:4 in the third. Congrats Mario, you've lost so many matches wasting MP, it'd be ridiculous to lose another one against a player like Lacko.

From what I saw Lacko should be ranked higher than he is now. He is 352nd now  But only 21 years old, that was a solid Top150 from what I saw today. Nice technically shots with quite a power.

Agree.
I think it would have been amazingly important win for him if he beat Ancic after saving MP. It'd be some form of consolation after those nightmare defeats last year. Maybe the bad habit to lose these equal matches will be preserved

What a terrible performance from Mario Ancic, was there till 5/5 in second set then decided to leave and watch Gulbis.
It was a very poor performance from Mario in first two sets, only serving was good!
Good that he won at the end! :yeah:

:spit: :rolls:

You never know which Lacko shows up ;) The guy can be brilliant one day, and in shambles the next. There are few players that I have seen so poorly as Lukas. He is a complete headcase too, which explains why his ranking plummeted so much. Solid is far from a word I'd apply to him, but it seems he kept his composure this match.

Ancic was patehtic, miles away from his best, Lacko has a solid forhand, especially down the line, but his bekhand is awful, the match was boring, Mario should have clinched it in two easy sets, but messed it up, somehow won it in the end, all the injuries have cost him too much....

Lacko had a horrible last year, he took some time out from tennis to think about his career, and obviously it helped. If he plays like this, 150 or even 120 is possible.

Ancic is just a shadow of his former self.

Give the guy a break. He played his first match indoors (do they even have practices, I saw Ljubo practicing on Center Court just before the 5PM match yesterday ), he's not yet in form, made a ton of errors, but he actually won the match, rather than being handed the match by Lacko and played good when it was crucial, that's a good thing. He's healthy, hard-working and highly motivated. Patience is a virtue ;)

God, why can't Ancic stop that incessant "moan" he makes everytime he hits a ball...truly one of the most annoying of the top players.

Agreed, not playing like that he won't. Hard to actually name a player I'd be very confident of beating him, but it is certainly not difficult to name a handful of players that would have a very realistic chance of doing so.

From that, i can only conclude that you don't saw the match. If he keeps playing that way, he will be destroyed by Gabashvili.

He should be too smart for Gaba, even if he doesn't play his best ;)

Too early to say negative things about Mario, but the truth is I didn`t see the match. I hope he plays better next round.
