....as nothing goes above a Federer vs. Nadal final when they are both healthy. Plus I long to see their first hardcourt GS final.

Screw them GO RODDICK! I want him to win a slam to shut some people up. He wins this one he'll have probably beaten the top 3 in the world. That's how you win a Grand Slam!

That would be great. I think that if both Rafa and Fed lost it would be great because then someone other than those 2 could win a slam. *** I'm tired of Fedal domination. Come on you guys, spread the wealth! There's enough to share! :bounce:

Nadull-Federer matches aren't great tennis.

It's more like a display of an awful match up, brainless tactics and chokefests.

Not as good as a Roger/Rafa or Roger/Nando final. Remember about the suprise finalist spell. Nando might just be the one, wont be surprised at all.

I understand the argument that the Federer/Nadal matchup is bad on surfaces like clay, but I don't agree with too extreme statements like "their rivalry is the worst thing" or "their matches aren't real Tennis" seriously, are the backhand shanks the only thing that happens in their matches? please watch those highlights I posted on my channel and see how their matches on a hardcourt could go:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vOTu-zuuRA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWjFToVlexQ

and even on clay, wasn't their Rome 2006 match some of the highest quality tennis you can ever imagine? and what about their Hamburg 2007 match?

even if all Nadal does is trying to break Fed's backhand which results in more shanks than usual, this matchup is capable of producing some awesome tennis.

but people just hate Nadal too much around here it seems.

Nadal Federer is the best that can be hoped for.

Seriously. Nando is playing sick tennis but he will not last. The first patch of trouble and and the demons of doubt will return to do him in.

And Roddick's tourney will end in the usual hail of passing shots gone blistering by.

Absolutely. You see everything in a Fed/Nadal match. Great serves, returns, angles, winners, you name it!

Trust me man you have nothing to worry about, both men will win their SF matches, mark my word. What a way to start the season!

Roddick for the title

It'd be nice to see Roddick win again. He’s a consistent performer in slams.

He's had some crushing defeats in recent years, and has worked his ass off adding new dimensions to his game (i.e. a net game), he's just been very unlucky to face Federer in all his slam finals since winning the USO in 2003.

While I'm a fan of both Nando and Roddick and would be extremely happy seeing either of them in a slam final, I have to agree. The quality of tennis Federer and Nadal are capable of bringing out of each other on a GOOD OCCASION is on another level to anything else in the modern game, and I'm quite fascinated to see how this is going to pan out on a hardcourt.

Come on, Rafa, give us an all-Yokozuna final!

Henry Kaspar
01-30-2009, 02:04 PM
YES!!!!!

Although Nadal had to fight more for it than he would have liked.

Based on what I saw so far, Federer is the slight favorite for this final, inspite of their head-to-head record (btw, on hardcourt Federer is still 3-2 up). And it would be good for tennis if Federer could get one back.

i live in Fukuoka, & was very pleased to see Yokozuna Asashoryu defeat Yokozuna Hakuho in the playoff bout last sunday [Tokyo] for his 23rd grand championship title:worship::devil:.
Asashoryu had to come back from suspension [2007] & a career threatening elbow injury [2008]~ a great comeback by the Yokozuna:cool:.. now we get the much anticipated 7th Slam final meeting between the only 2 current tennis Yokozuna<> FED & RAFA.!! very happy:)

No I don't, but I love sumo (and tennis).

Quite a beast this Asashoryu, isn't he. Never thought he could pull this.

The fact that there are two outstanding Yokozuna is good for sumo, and it's good for tennis. :yeah:
