Federer Del Potro, yeah I know not what a real tennis lover should say. Fun to see old Federer toying with a top player again, it was ages since I saw that. Del Potro was horrible and the match was onesided but it really made me smile.

Other then that I loved to see Santoro win another 5 set match.

Murray - Verdasco? Horrific and disjointed 4 one-sided sets. In 5th quality was good from Nando but match of tournament. No way

Murray – Verdasco

good match and good to see Verdasco changing as a player for the better: Good for him.
Fed – Ber close second. Shame about the result :wavey:

Federer vs. Del Potro

Agreed. This was the best quality tennis of the tournament. Sheer beauty.

More generally, the two top dogs have shown real Yokozuna tennis thus far. I hope they both win their semis. Nothing goes above a Federer vs. Nadal matchup when they are both healthy.

I missed the gonzo - gasquet match, i was watching something else.

The best match i saw was the Santoro - Kohlschreiber match.

Even though I'm a murray fan i really enjoyed the murray - verdasco match. Also liked the Vedasco - Tsongo match too.

Richie-Gonzo by a mile

both played great tennis, especially Gasquet in the first 2 when he put a clinic out there, but Feña never give up and keep fighting till the end

How could you not ask for better drama, entertainment, shot making, & a carnival davis cup atmosphere with the gonzo supporters going nuts ,
Trumpets Chanting, Singing & Flares!

That is the closest your going to get to a France v Chile DC Tie in Melbourne

Richie v Gonzo

It doesn't get any better then that

But put the hand on the heart I must say what the best match is Safina-Cornet.
Safina has a really steel nerves, like a RG 08 when she beating Dementyeva and Sharapova loses 2 break. Ahhhh... and Cornet on the knee and her tears. It's really fantastic games!!!

Without a shadow of a doubt; Gasquet vs Gonzalez.

I also enjoyed Verdasco/Tsonga, Verdasco/Murray and Santoro's five set win too.

In terms of pure drama factor, not quality- Federer/Berdych. Lots of :drink: done on that day.

Honorable mention to Gasquet/Gonzo for getting to 12-10 in the fifth. Good to see the crowd treated to a proper show.

Gonzalez-Gasquet, has to be.

There don't seem to have been too many stand-outs this tournament - week 1 was a bit quiet as all the seeds made progress (except the inevitable Dave bailout). So you'd think that the second week would have some great matches as they all started to square off, but...not so much. Murray vs Verdasco and Federer vs Berdych both weren't tremendous quality contests, so they don't get my vote.

Hantuchova/Sugiyama [9] def. Black/Huber [1] in women's doubles quarterfinals, 6-7(0) 6-3 7-6(10)
It was really a high quality match with lots of drama, incredible exchanges at the net. Black/Huber took the first set after trailing 0-3, and Ai and Daniela came back from 2-5 down in the third set and 2-6 down in the final set TV, saving seven MPs in all.

Of the list above, Gonzo vs Gasquet. But I hear Tsonga vs Ljubicic was a great match too. Gonzo vs Hewitt is worth mentioning too.

Hope we have even better matches to come.
Vamos Rafa!! :rocker2:

Tonight's match was what makes GS.... lets hope Roger & Rafa Final will be what the AO needs 1 v 2

As good as the tennis was tonight & I doubt we will see that quality over such a long time soon... the shots, the power, etc Simply Brilliant

Still think the Richie v Gonzo match still wins as best match of the AO.... Think the atmosphere gets the crowd in more on the smaller courts & Im going with Richie v Gonzo on that reason.... You can't beat a good bit of Drama for entertainment

The crowd atmosphere, they were all chanting & cheering before Richie & Gonzo arrived on court, It was like a DC Match, Those mad Gonzo Army of supporters really know how to have a great time..... Wish I was there to experience the match
I think as far as Atmosphere, Crowd Factor..... You can't get any better then Richie v Gonzo;)
