First set was bad from both of them, but then Del Potro only slightly raised his level which was enough today!

The outcome was expected and it was a tight match -except for the last match- but boring, both hit with great power but overall they are pretty unidimensional :zzz:

del potro's only double fault in 3 sets came when marin had a break point at 5-6 30-40 in the first set lol.
Otherwise a good match by delpony, kept his nerve throughout but seems hes running out of gas again. Hopefully he'll be recharged for federer :p

Was slightly boring but a good win for Del Pony. It is probably a great thing for him to lose a set too. He can learn from it and get it off his back. Nice confidence it will give him too.

He looks great, draw looks great but you cant overlook the Del Pony match. The guy just can't lose.(I am not saying he will beat Federer, no, Federer will win, but it will be like an entrance exam to get into some 3-star restaurant.)

Del potro is amazingly one dimensional. He actually reminds me a bit of Agassi in his game minus the genius anticipation talent Agassi had. But very similar in which Is all hitting and hitting and he doesn't seem to be aware of the meaning of a slice or just a variation shot. Cilic is very similar... so you get this type of match.

I think Delpo can be quite a dangerous match for Roger. He is very consistent and good at counter punching and playing defense.

The only thing is that he hits with very low spin which Roger loves it. Specially good for his Backhand. But still could be an interesting match..

Almost the same outcome in his match against Muller, there lost first set too serving 1st DF in a crucial moment. For sure Franco Davin's concept, and it's a good tactical solution. Del Potro fucked it up twice in two consecutive matches (good for him without serious consequences) but in the future it should work well a few times.

Cilic's backhand errors lost him this match.

i just can say one big LOL.he had 13-13 match mark on ATP in 2007,14-14 in 2008 until nottigham.he has 30-10(such amazing match mark!!!) from nottigham until today(he is just 20 and 4 months).soo he plays just 5 months (without off-season) real good,soo he is still on the begining.he is prone to be top 5 very soon.

Well, yeah, I am quite sure. Even if Roger wins 20-18 in the fifth I can see him beating Pony. But I guess it will take him four sets.

Most boring match of the tournament so far, at least when considering the usual level of the two players.

It was not particularly fun, but it was not as bad as the comments suggest either IMO. Perhaps we've seen quite a few very good matches so far and it suddenly looks extremely boring. :shrug:

It was disappointing to see Cilic flag so early and badly in this one. I thought he had it in him to beat Del Potro, but maybe he didn't do enough work in the off-season. He could stand to gain some weight. That lean, broad torso of his makes his shirt look like it's resting on a coat hanger.

The Argentinian's looking more formidably steady than ever, and I'm looking forward to his clay exploits. Is he going to be the only guy to lose respectably to Nadal at the French?
