1. To push Nadal all the way in the QFs.
2. And to be one of his biggest challengers at Roland Garros over the next 5-10 years.
3. And to be the next French man to win a Slam. With a compulsory hug from Noah when he does.

Monfils on clay is so overrated due to that RG-semi with that mug draw :help:
I'm sure his career on hard courts and probably even grass courts will be way more successful
feel free to quote me in 2019 if I'm wrong

Monfils was a top flight junior who won all 4 majors so its not a stretch tha one day he will win big because he is showing tremendous growth mentally and his game is reflecting maturity.

If monfils can work on maintaining his concentration and seriousness in a matches, he could easily with the Grand Slam several times.

Monfils with that game, at its best, can be a Poor man Nadal.

Except he can serve bigger and hit through him on his day

I mean I really like the guy, great personality. But I feel that is to much overrating about his game based on his charisma.

Is it just me or does he sometimes seem exhausted by the 3rd set? I don't know if this is a ploy because he usually ends up performing quite well still but he is always bent over breathing hard or sitting on a chair or sprawled out on the ground.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that he likes to stay 20 feet the baseline and make impossible gets and run around the court like crazy even at unecessary times. And that can make you a little tired by the third set I would say.

How is he going to last through 7 best of 5 matches if he keeps doing that?

When there is a will there is a way.
