Apart from that one lapse in concentration James was playing very well. Some amazing defense and shot making. Really entertaining match!! :)

On this form he could cause an upset against Tsonga who dont look as good as last year!!

GO JB!!:worship:

Blake :yeah:

Andreev is the biggest Blake's pigeon (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=8057573&postcount=1670) but it isn't surprsing. Andreev plays the balls with high bounce and it suits Blake perfectly because he hits the clearest forehand shots when the ball goes up. Andreev's weaker backhand works quite well only in the cross, so Blake can freely expose a lot of space on the court from his right side, without a fear that Andreev will finish points with backhands down the line.

Blake is just a bad matchup for Andreev. He could have won in 3 sets if he executed some volleys properly. He seems to be playing with a bit more controlled aggression than I've seen in a while which is nice. If his current form keeps up he could give Tsonga some trouble and win depending on Tsonga's condition. It sets up for an exciting quarter final though.

Andreev is Blake's bitch.

Time to take out Tsonga.

Didn't see the match, but was he good at the net?

He missed a few too many easy volleys, but otherwise was pretty good.

Didn't see the match, but was he good at the net?

Yes, 32 of 47 (68 %) is a good stat but James made a few easy mistakes on high backhand volleys :o It is unforgivable because as I said earlier, Andreev plays most of balls from the backhand side on cross, so on the backhand of right-handed opponent. Therefore Blake attacking to the net on Andreev's backhand should have anticipated balls on his backhand side what allows to play better volley.

Didn't see the match, but was he good at the net?

He had some really difficult, spectacular volleys, but he also missed some easy ones.

Monster forehand. The backhand is still pathetic.

Maybe Haas can teach him how to hit a backhand in exchange for Blake helping to tweak his forehand.

Nice job Blake, though never in doubt, Andreev is pathetic on hard court, just retire Gulbis...

Blake hit his customary power FH's all over the place, but he also had some nice angled ones. During the first two sets, he held off on hitting the huge winning FH and opted instead to move Andreev side-to-side with higher % deep FH's. His return of serve was also very good as was his BH. He can't really move anyone around with it, but he was hitting it with a lot of depth and power.
