Santoro tried, but too tired, and the match-up just did not suit him, nothing special from Roddick, good serving and running arround, won't go to far IMO...

Hats off to Fabrice, an amazing run for a grandpa, hope he has some more good runs during the year...

Serve looked good. Backhand was consistent and not too bad either. He seemed to be moving around pretty well, but I hope he doesn't try to become too reliant on his legs because he can't win that way. The forehand is consistent but not very good, but I'm resigned to the fact that it isn't going to change.

Would have been an interesting match up with a fit Santoro.

He's into the 4th round bro, what do you mean by won't go too far? If all goes as planned he'll be playing Novak for a shot in the semis. The same Novak who hasn't looked that impressive in his previous 2 tournaments heading into the Aussie. Probably the most vulnerable out of the big 4. So what exactly are you talking about? Roddick didn't do anything special today because there was no need. It's insane to even try to take anything from this match and break it down. Roddick probably works harder in some practices.

Well Santoro did better here than at the US Open... and he was dead tired after the Kohlschreiber match.

Different conditions and atmosphere can change a match.

:( Poor Santoro.

I think Roddick is near his best again, he is coming through very quietly.

Very nice from the organizers to have offered a bottle of champagne and a voucher for a restaurant in town to Fabrice.

Nothing surprising with the result anyway, Fabrice is no match for Roddick when he is playing all right

Well done Andy.

Santoro did extremely well to make it this far.

I wish I were interested in tennis around 1990's when Santoro was at his best!
I find him delightful to watch!
:hug:Good luck for the rest of the year, Fabrice!

Andy's chip was reasonably effective...better than usual when it is just fodder for easy passes.

I find him delightful to watch! He wasn't playing like that at all when he was younger. He was really boring to watch. He started to change at the end of the 90's.

I agree. he has been so entertaining late in his career, esp. his run to the AO quarters a few years back.

So, Santoro didn't retire again?

He's been playing his last Aussie Open for a decade I guess.
