Very confident play from Marin. Despite the fact that Ferrer is in a lousy form lately he is always a tough opponent, he fought hard, but Cilic had too much power on his shots so grinding did not work well. Match against Del Potro should be interesting one.

People were laughing at me on this board last year when I suggested that Cilic will one day be challenging for the no 1 ranking. I stand by that statement.

Let's be real, Ferrer's great run from around mid 2007-08 was exceptional rather than normal for his standards and - with all the younger, more powerful players now emerging - I don't expect to see him return to those heights, especially on faster courts. However, I was a fan before the Spaniard jumped into the top five and will stay one regardless. As for Cilic, I've yet to actually see him play this AO but it seems like he continues to improve from last season so kudos to him.
