Which players rely extremely heavily on one component?

Obviously every player has his strengths and weaknesses, but I'm talking about an absolute go-to shot that would leave him significantly impaired were it traded for a mediocre/average alternative. There's a very fine line between a weapon and a career saver, so please only provide drastic examples.

I think Gonzalez has some great days on serve where is hardly breakable

You can probably apply the same logic to majority of the 1-dimensional players, as they all have good days where everything clicks, but in the majority of cases would rely on that big weapoon of such.

federer forehand

Nah Federer could win a match without a racket.

federer forehand

I think great movement and a reliable first serve place Federer out of this category.

i disagree many players on tour have great movement and solid serve look at davydenko. federer forehand is his moneyshot without it, he probably wouldnt have won a slam.

13 grand slams and counting and he has won it with only a forehand.

what a guy

Karlovic and his serve. He relies on it so much that even he'd barely register inside the top 1000 without it.

Karlovic: serve
Well, would he even be a professional player without it?

Gasquet: backhand.
Without it,firstly i wouldn't be a fan of him and secondly he wouldn't even be in the top 200

This is silly. Roger is physically superior and super fast. And i wouldnt exactly call him mentally weak, although he's got a lot to prove against Rafa.

Disagree.

Roddick can do a good many things. He doesn't have graceful movements but he produces great passes, volleys well and has grown a lot from the serve-only player he supposedly was.

Dr. Ivo is the most reliant on his serve, no other part of his game is even top 50.

Roddick's serve is good, forehand is average, backhand is one of the worst in the game.

Gonzales' forehand is one of the best, while his backhand is one of the worst in the game.

Volleys are quite Decent, you juust rarely see them due to the monster serve. Slice approach not bad either. Forehands decent. But, yes without the serve he would be blown away.

Take away Fed's speed by making him a stationary pylon, he would lose everytime.

Nadal, taking his time wiping himself with the towel, picking his arse, bouncing the ball about 15 or so times. Spitting and some dirt kicking ritual added too when playing on clay.

Novak DJokovic, injury time out, intense ball bouncing and breathing technique.

That damn Pony might actually become number 5 with even more luck. He doesn't deserve it but I have a feeling that Davydenko will be gone longer than we think.

I think it is unfair to criticise Karlovic for relying on his serve because at his height he simply has to play the way that he does. Personally I think his groundstrokes and volleys are quite good considering his build.

Roddick, some other big servers, as the obvious answer for me, but honestly I think every player in the top 100 has at least two facets that are good about their game, otherwise they would not be there..
