Only amusing part of the match was Karanusic's non-stop swearing after 3-4 in the second.
Nadal didn't have to try hard to win this.

Rafa has a tough one next on paper, we'll see what happens. sheeter 01-22-2009, 04:44 AM Karanusic's attitude wasn't exactly all smiles and giggles. JolánGagó 01-22-2009, 08:30 AM What happened exactly? This guy was bullshiting previous to match that he was in better mental and physical condition than Nadal, only worse in technique  El Legenda 01-22-2009, 09:05 AM Did anyone know Karanusic had an bullet fast FH? he was hitting them over 100MPH..but for some reason he kept spinning them most of the tme. green25814 01-22-2009, 09:07 AM Karanusic is a terrible tennis player. Ugh. :o JMG 01-22-2009, 01:41 PM Karanusic is a terrible tennis player. Ugh. :o Eh? :cuckoo: He is a great tennis player. Crazy Girl 01-22-2009, 01:44 PM :eek:OMG!!:eek:Another sacrificial victim for Rafa!:rolleyes::rolleyes: ORGASMATRON 01-22-2009, 02:14 PM Im shocked at how bad some of these guys are but thats GS tennis i guess. Karanusic had the worst slice backhand ive ever seen, just floats it with nothing on in, exactly the way Rafa likes it. Rafa would have better competition playing a challenger, he better get his shit together againts Haas Bazooka 01-22-2009, 02:19 PM Rafa should have done this faster. I was really really bored watching this so called "match" sheeter 01-22-2009, 02:28 PM Did anyone know Karanusic had an bullet fast FH? he was hitting them over 100MPH..but for some reason he kept spinning them most of the tme. Because he couldn't hit it that hard anywhere near consistently. tangerine_dream 01-22-2009, 03:18 PM Karanusic acting like he actually stood a chance of winning was the best part of this match. JolánGagó 01-22-2009, 03:24 PM Eh? :cuckoo: He is a great tennis player. You've got so much piss inside you that it's already flooding your brains. elessar 01-22-2009, 03:25 PM 14 posts :worship: must have been a thriller. The_Nadal_effect 01-22-2009, 03:37 PM Rafa glorified as usual because of a weaker opponent. His real test begins tomorrow. First Haas, then Speedy Gonzo...looking good. Lopsided scorelines...:wavey: Arkulari 01-22-2009, 04:05 PM what is surprising is that Rafa didn't triple bageled him ;) malisha 01-22-2009, 04:08 PM What happened exactly? This guy was bullshiting previous to match that he was in better mental and physical condition than Nadal, only worse in technique  true how do you know that Jolan? malisha 01-22-2009, 04:09 PM Karanusic had the worst slice backhand ive ever seen, this just proves you know shit about tennis The_Nadal_effect 01-22-2009, 04:17 PM what is surprising is that Rafa didn't triple bageled him ;) Yeah, like Santoro in Doha! Everybody went OMG OMG watching Rafa make glory against an aging opponent. Tommy and Gonzo will show exactly where Rafa's game is on hardcourts! GlennMirnyi 01-22-2009, 06:15 PM Karanusic is a terrible tennis player. Ugh. :o Terrible player? I guess you're just another one of MTF's 98% of posters who have never held a racket. Im shocked at how bad some of these guys are but thats GS tennis i guess. Karanusic had the worst slice backhand ive ever seen, just floats it with nothing on in, exactly the way Rafa likes it. Rafa would have better competition playing a challenger, he better get his shit together againts Haas Have you ever held a racket? Are you braindead? The guy is a top 100. Get a clue. this just proves you know shit about tennis Exactly. Aenea 01-22-2009, 07:03 PM he's got the tools to trouble nadal. Karanusic is a terrible tennis player. Ugh. :o what is surprising is that Rafa didn't triple bageled him ;) Such different opinions on Roko Guy Haines 01-23-2009, 02:25 AM Yeah, like Santoro in Doha! Everybody went OMG OMG watching Rafa make glory against an aging opponent. Tommy and Gonzo will show exactly where Rafa's game is on hardcourts! I dunno, I think Rafa will do alright against Haas and Gonzo. No doubt Haas is playing some fine, sharp tennis right now. But Rafa hasn't lost to him on hard courts, and Rafa is a better hard court player than he was 12 months ago. Only the willfully blind deny it. Gonzales is a tougher ask, but he's had the answer. When Gonzalez smashed Nadal, Gonzalez was in maestro mode at the start of the Stefanki era. I guess the question is whether Rafa can still hit the flatter forehand against the likes of Haas and Gonzo, or whether he will revert to the old one that gets him into trouble on this surface. But he isn't running around his backhand as much, so he usually has more time to hit the forehand. Monfils maybe and Simon and Tsonga and Murray all have much better shots at Nadal. But should he face Tsonga, he won't play him as meekly as he did last time. Tsonga schooled Nadal so effortlessly and mercilessly and completely that...he showed him everything he needed to improve. rafa_maniac 01-23-2009, 05:09 AM Pretty average display from Rafa really, this should have been easier than it was (and it was still very easy). Haas is no serious issue, but after that things get tough... jmsx521 01-23-2009, 05:20 AM I've watched Roko play live, about two or three times; I was very impressed by him: He is very crafty... but couldn't prove it against Rafa. | |
