Only amusing part of the match was Karanusic's non-stop swearing after 3-4 in the second.

Nadal didn't have to try hard to win this.

Im shocked at how bad some of these guys are but thats GS tennis i guess. Karanusic had the worst slice backhand ive ever seen, just floats it with nothing on in, exactly the way Rafa likes it. Rafa would have better competition playing a challenger, he better get his shit together againts Haas

I dunno, I think Rafa will do alright against Haas and Gonzo.

No doubt Haas is playing some fine, sharp tennis right now. But Rafa hasn't lost to him on hard courts, and Rafa is a better hard court player than he was 12 months ago. Only the willfully blind deny it.

Gonzales is a tougher ask, but he's had the answer. When Gonzalez smashed Nadal, Gonzalez was in maestro mode at the start of the Stefanki era.

I guess the question is whether Rafa can still hit the flatter forehand against the likes of Haas and Gonzo, or whether he will revert to the old one that gets him into trouble on this surface. But he isn't running around his backhand as much, so he usually has more time to hit the forehand.

Monfils maybe and Simon and Tsonga and Murray all have much better shots at Nadal. But should he face Tsonga, he won't play him as meekly as he did last time. Tsonga schooled Nadal so effortlessly and mercilessly and completely that...he showed him everything he needed to improve.

Pretty average display from Rafa really, this should have been easier than it was (and it was still very easy). Haas is no serious issue, but after that things get tough...

I've watched Roko play live, about two or three times; I was very impressed by him: He is very crafty... but couldn't prove it against Rafa.
