New Ranking System - the Poll - Suicide need you !

The Suicide ranking is until now, based on all the tournament.

Some changes seems necessary.

In the other thread, i've post a exemple of a new ranking system.
To be honnest, there's not a lot of difference following the 2 ways.

But let's ask to the players what they think .

4 Choices :

Option 1 : Status quo : all tournament count
Option 2 : 18 best results on all year (+ masters cup for the qualified)
Option 3 : 18 best but mandatories aproximately as in TT (4 GS, 8 best masters 1000/9, and 6 best other results) (+ masters cup for the qualified)
Option 4 : another way ?

Another option ( option 4 perharps) is a repartition of the 6th best : 4 best tournaments 500 and 2 best tournament 250 or challenger.
It's not too hard to do for the "calcul" (thanks excel formulas ! :p). But probably in the year by year evolution if calendar is changing...

So, let's go. Give your opinion.

I'd go with option 3 as well. However, keeping status quo would be ok for me as well. Don't like option 2 particularly.

Õption 2 for me. I t can be that you miss a grandslam or mastertournament, because of holidays, work, or whatever. I think this should be possible, as long as you play 18 tournaments a year! In TT it works really well, why not here?

Option 2. Keep it simple.

Option 2 (but option 3 may also be a good choice)

I'll go for option 3 just like in real life. Otherwise option 2 is the best one.

Option 1 for me. I suck at Maths so it's the easiest way to keep track of my points. I'd surely get lost in the new system. (Or maybe I'm just conservative.) If a change is necessary, then Option 3 seems logical for me.

How many of you guys play TT here? Does that ranking not work? I guess that is the best way to do it. Especially because it is really easily possible to go out early on a Grand Slam and in that way ruining your ranking as it is with option 3. On WTA forum they use option 3 and I guess it is less good there!

bad luck imo
a ranking which possibly does not include your results from all 4 Grand Slams because you were better at some MM-event is a complete joke

Well in TT there are some mandatories, at least 4 GS but only if you're well enough ranked to play the tournament ( if you're #200 and you miss AO, you won't have 0 pts )

Of course, everybody can play suicide, so no reason to not count all mandatories.

Thanks to all of you to vote and participate :worship:

option 3 = real life and almost same as TT

Option 2
First,it is simple
Second, not everyone has enough time to follow every GS and master.

OKay, I have something to say here. I've been thinking about it. I agree that option 3 is more like real life. Option 2 is like TT (I'm almost sure that he just takes the best 18, not obliged to play GS for anyone, but we should ask Gavnich about that!).

Against option 2, it is too far away from real life.
Against option 3, we don't get paid for playing GS, so we don't all have enough time to follow every GS and Master.

Option nr. 4: 3 GS, 6 Masters, 9 others. In this way everybody can miss some big tournaments, but playing 4 GS is still a big advantage. Think about this!

one additional thing: we need urgently to double the points from last year, because this way 2008 will be for nothing.

If someone take 2000 from Australian Open he will have half of the points of leaders

again real life :p
