Brisbane QF: Mathieu def Nishikori 6-3 6-4

Good match actually, I enjoyed it. Lots of aggression and winners from both. PHM is playing very well.

Nishi was in some discomfort with his elbow and tried to rush to the net towards the end. Unfortunately exposing his weakness in that area of his game. But some very promising stuff from him, as usual. I just hope his future isn't plagued by injuries.

Oh yeah! :rocker2:

This week in Brisbane, Paul-henri taking the kids to school.
6-3 6-3, 6-3 6-4, 6-3 6-4,...consistently just too good.

Mathieu is playing surprisingly well, but I think it's only this week. He's not a very consistent player, IMHO.

Great stuff from Paulo. Pretty consistent.

Not a big fan of him, but he's got nice fans here. :)

nice run for phm, unfortunate for nishikori

It's so nice to see Paulo playing well, so pleased for him. Long may it continue :D

Another solid match from Paulo, a really good start to the year for him.

Nishikori showed his talent once again today, but I just hope his fragile frame and flicky forehand technique won't leave him susceptible to injuries.

Hope Nishikori pushes on this year, he needs to start beating also-rans like Mathieu if he wants to make a mark on the top. Put this one down to unfortunate injury though.

Doh. I had hoped to see more of Kei, but good to hear Mathieu is playing well.

Ryoma

Have a good year please, PHM. It's put up or shut up time for you. :)

Good to see PHM starting the year off on a good note - hopefully he keeps it up and gives me cause to change my avatar to something more positive :)

Kei was clearly struggling with his elbow injury which was affecting his forehand, so he started rushing the net which is not his natural game.

He seems to be injured every 2nd tournament he plays, quite worrying for someone so young. Hopefully he won't be someone who has a career plagued by injuries.
