Yay. Good way to get rid of that punk Gulbis.
PHM beats down Gulbis 6-3 6-4Xristos 01-07-2009, 04:43 AM Yay. Good way to get rid of that punk Gulbis. gambit84 01-07-2009, 04:43 AM Paulo won 63 64 over Gulbis :cool::cool: During the match loved starting on Gulbis backhand, he knew he had a stronger one  :rocker: ~*BGT*~ 01-07-2009, 04:44 AM :haha: Called it. :p VolandriFan 01-07-2009, 04:45 AM Paulo played well today. Gulbis became increasingly agitated and rarely came out on top in their backhand crosscourt exchanges. ~Maya~ 01-07-2009, 04:48 AM  I thought that the big win over Nole would give him confidence to do some damage here VivaLaVida 01-07-2009, 04:49 AM Great win :) finishingmove 01-07-2009, 04:58 AM paulo was very focused today but i don't know what happened to gulbis' brain overnight. at 3-5 in the second set the guy walks to his chair and sits thinking it's time for a break. -Evita- 01-07-2009, 05:02 AM  I thought that the big win over Nole would give him confidence to do some damage here I don't think he lacked confidence, PHM simply played better. timafi 01-07-2009, 05:02 AM Paulo:yeah: told you Paulo fans that Lolo would have him attack and by golly did he attack:devil:he missed badly at times:help:but he kept at it:yeah: Deboogle!. 01-07-2009, 05:02 AM Paulo:D:D:D Jōris 01-07-2009, 05:09 AM Where the Gulbtards at? Rrrainer 01-07-2009, 05:13 AM i didn't even think ernie played that bad, too be honest, pretty much the same as yesterday. the thing was that mathieu was really solid out there today and didn't give him any errors, WAY less patchy than i'd hoped him to be. ernie still needs to learn the art of body language on court btw, too little positive emotion for my taste. kutafon 01-07-2009, 05:15 AM expected one MIMIC 01-07-2009, 05:16 AM Damn. Didn't see the match, but damn. HoistDaColors 01-07-2009, 05:22 AM ernie needs to mature a bit, too much testosterone out there. absolutely smacking the ball every chance he got. PHM loves rhythm and Gulbis dutifully provided it today without varying the pace of his own shots. I am excited to see PHM playing well. It's been a very long time since a solid performance like that. LinkMage 01-07-2009, 05:46 AM Nice way to blow 10k, at least it wasn't 50k. :o federernadalfan 01-07-2009, 06:16 AM phm  Forehander 01-07-2009, 06:38 AM They're both ball bashers except PHM came out on top today. Machiavelli 01-07-2009, 06:42 AM Nice one Mathieu, hope the Gulbis comunity slows down a little bit now, the kid has potential, but IMO totally overhyped... Allez Paulo jonathancrane 01-07-2009, 06:44 AM Irregular player this Gulbis malisha 01-07-2009, 07:05 AM PHm was always winning this one Bee 01-07-2009, 07:36 AM A bit stunned at this result. Was in Brisbane 'live' to see Ernests take out Djoko yesterday ... didn't work for him today. Hmmmm ... Tho' Mathieu played v. solid & didn't let Gulbis in. Que sera, sera. jazar 01-07-2009, 08:09 AM typical of gulbis to get a great result then blow it next round dijus 01-07-2009, 08:21 AM Nice way to blow 10k, at least it wasn't 50k. :o who cares about vcash? Allez Paulo Irregular player this Gulbis typical of gulbis to get a great result then blow it next round It does seem to be a pattern. Gulbis has not reached a SF at any level since the beginning of 2008 -- that must be a hallmark of inconsistency. There will be few if any players in the top-100 or even top-200 for which you can make the same statement ('not reached a SF at any level'). Of course I am exaggerating a bit because his QF at RG wsa pretty good, but still. gusman890 01-07-2009, 10:43 AM Berdych isn't the only baby Safin anymore. Davodus 01-07-2009, 10:50 AM i was at this match gulbis was pretty shit really, he made a lot of errors and was getting mad at everything (although a lot of line calls went against him and the umpire missed an obvious let) mathieu played well but not fantastic  reggie1 01-07-2009, 11:14 AM I really don't get Gulbis. He has the physique and the talent to do great stuff, does it yesterday and then muffs it against PHM. He shows quite a lot of character and personality in his interviews to make me think that the mental side wouldn't neccessarily be a problem. Maybe it's just "heart" and it's difficult to quantify that. Venle 01-07-2009, 11:21 AM Paulo :yeah: alfonsojose 01-07-2009, 11:58 AM  Gulbis :help: Snowwy 01-07-2009, 12:09 PM Nice to see the clown lose Tutu 01-07-2009, 12:21 PM  :o BaselineSmash 01-07-2009, 02:01 PM Gulbis saving himself for the bigger event. Good to see Mathieu in some form. homogenius 01-07-2009, 02:10 PM :yeah: SheepleBuster 01-07-2009, 02:17 PM Gulbis will be dangerous but doubt he will be anything especial. Hasn't shown he can be consistent enough to win a slam richie21 01-07-2009, 02:19 PM Gulbis will be dangerous but doubt he will be anything especial. Hasn't shown he can be consistent enough to win a slam He hasn't even shown he can be consistent enough to win a MM title, let alone a Slam. tangerine_dream 01-07-2009, 02:36 PM Ernie. GlennMirnyi 01-07-2009, 03:21 PM Goes to show how weak Fakervic was. ;) xargon 01-07-2009, 04:49 PM  I thought that the big win over Nole would give him confidence to do some damage here It that way he is like Tipsy, taking down a giant and losing the next match to an average player. ChinoRios4Ever 01-07-2009, 06:25 PM I knew it. Tankervic was in clear tank mode yesterday. KarlyM 01-07-2009, 09:15 PM expected. http://mywabashvalley.com/media/jpg/derail04.jpg Nice picture. :haha: :haha: Good job, Paulo! :hatoff: Jimnik 01-07-2009, 09:57 PM Ernie still struggling to string results together. He surely can't stay this inconsistent forever. | |
