Monfils just breaks Nadal rather easily and I tell you what Gael looks really impressive early on. His forehand is an absolute beast and he is constructing points very well. He's never won more than 3 games in 6 previous sets vs Rafa, but that looks as if that will fall.

Then I jinx Monfils as Nadal decides to play backboard for a while and get the break back.

Monfils climbs out of a 0-30 hole to make it 5-4 in the first set. Gale's forehand still on fire!

Monfils takes the first set 6-4 as Nadal nets a volley on break point. Gael is really the agressor in this match taking control of a lot of the points.

I've never seen this in my life. Nadal right now has absolutely no answer for Gael's power.
