My favourite song of the 90's. The video is f***ing gorgeous

Rows of houses, all bearing down on me
I can feel their blue hands touching me
All these things into position
All these things will one day swallow whole
Fade out again, Fade out.

This machine will, will not communicate
These thoughts and the strain I am under
Be a world child, form a circle
Before we all, go under
fade out again, fade out again

Cracked eggs, dead birds
Scream as they fight for life
I can feel death, can see its beady eyes
All these things into position
All these things will one day swallow whole
Fade out again, Fade out again

Immerse your soul in love
Immerse your soul in love

Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out)

referring to me: no, not necessarily
also visible from what I post at the What-song-are-you-listening-to-right-now-thread, I listen to pretty much everything (rock, soul, even some pop); I think it's a good thing if you develop a tendency that you give a sh*t what others think about your taste of music, while getting older

My first favourite bands from the childhood were Pearl Jam and Metallica and I loathed all the disco shit (tolerated Ace of Base), so I needed to grow older and attend the dancing parties to realize that dance music also has its advantages.

Like Deck said, I give a shit what the others think about my favourite songs, and I was the only person in my class who had the courage to NOT like Kelly Family and the only girl to NOT be in love with Angelo or Paddy :silly:

Anthrax - "Hy Pro Glo"

Underappreciated song.

The Sound of White Noise album represents one of the best examples of a skillful metal band successfully incorporating the 1990s grunge singing style. In other words, note how Layne Staley's voice has influenced John Bush's singing approach in certain passages of Hy Pro Glo here (for instance at 0:30, 0:57, 1:18, etc.)

Also: At certain angles, John Bush (the lead singer) looks quite a bit like a 1990s Bret "The Hitman" Hart in this video.

it is a great vid indeed...

it was their first 'proper' video after Jeremy... cos Vedder didnt appreciate the way the Jeremy video was perceived by the mass media + a particular comment by Cobain made them shun the publicity wagon wheel...

yeah man... i didnt like the sound of this when i first heard it... but, it was just cos i was brought in by the Superunknown sound... but, drunk one time, this became one of their top3 for mine... it was the riff at 4:40, the climax of the whole song IMO... it hit me pretty hard that this was a serious composition.. the interview at the start only typifies all the brutal honesty of that movement...

Another band who I consider to be very influential.

Northern Ireland's Therapy? who helped blur the lines between various guitar-based genres with their successful appearance at Donnington in 1994.

The song is Screamager. Brilliant lyrics. Angsty with a really dark sense of humour.

two bands that changed the face of heavy guitar music forever.

If "nu-metal" ever existed as musical genre rather than simply a perjorative term for shithouse bands then this is what started it all:

Korn - Blind
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/K7QaJWhHdo0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/K7QaJWhHdo0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Another band that had an important influnce not only on what came to be called nu-metal, but on emo as well:

Deftones - My Own Summer
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-sliDi-vL3g&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-sliDi-vL3g&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
