Yeah every year entrance is for free. I think only one year they had tickets but very cheap ass too.

WCs even if they annouce them, they always change in the very last moment. Last year I saw the tournament director talking with Stepanek on the phone on the quallie Friday. We can only guess Janowicz and Kubot will get 2, probably Przysiężny the 3rd and maybe Gawron 4th but hard to say.

They don't make it on commercial purposes, they want to attract many people to come (advertisment), and you will see how empty the stands are anyway.

Have you been to PL before? For how long will you stay? Do you have somewhere to stay at?

Kubot always gets the WCs, no worries about him. He is also from the region.

It's not a problem to find something to stay here. Unless you want smth like 10 Euro per night, then it's booked quickly. Young people speak English or German or both, tournie hostesses are friendly and the drivers are even better.

You can sit next to me and the gamblers sometimes, fun guaranteed hehe.

Nathaliia

Couchsurfing is something that you stay at someone's and then that person visits you too?

Nope, I am Polish (for most part at least, lol) and I am a journalist, and in 2006 & 2007 I wrote news for the tournament's website. It was much higher level back then, of course .

Most likely I'm staying at the official tournament's hotel.

Well, I sent a PM to Steph but will post here too, the press conference is on Thursday *during my exam.....obviously I will attend LOL* and soon after it names should be announced ;)

But Kubot and Janowicz one doesn't need a brain to guess. However I wonder if Kubot will accept it now when he's playing so great in AO; maybe he'll go to some ATP event to play doubles.

But I sincerely suppose he'll come here and his ego already must have grown bigger than Hala Ludowa, he will love to boast in front of the journos :p.

Carson this week in California is also for free it seems.

Quallies for slams (and many ATP events I think, too) are for free... not so unusual.

No players from top 100 though so people who will be in the stands will be only the gamblers and some more during the Poles' matches. You'll see Steph nobody attends this tournie anyway

i never heard of a tournament where you dont have to pay. even little challengers here in germany costs sometimes a lot. maybe you wanna check out the prizes for heilbronn.....you will die if you do that

unbelievable that not many people will be there....even in szczecin or sopot has been a lot of people....

Sopot was an ATP so sth bigger.. And in Szczecin it's the biggest challenger in Poland I think, almost every year we have sb from top 50:)

Nathaliia
01-29-2009, 04:49 PM
Have you been to Szczecin and Sopot?

Well, Sopot was ATP/WTA and Szczecin well......it's just different. Yeah in Szczecin there are usually many people (even when it's effing cold) and the tickets are very, very cheap (same for Sopot btw, tickets for the 1st and 2nd round were like 5-7 Euro; in Szczecin it's maybe 3-4 Euro for every day of the tournament)

edit - pingpong is right about Szczecin line-up... Gaudio, Coria, Ferrero, Nalbandian, Gasquet, Monfils, Gonzalez, Davydenko, El Aynaoui etc. all played there :D

Yes, but the sponsor withdrew. The old sponsor was from the 3-city (Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia) and Orange wants to have it played in Warsaw. Apparently, our capital. I haven't been to Warsaw last year cos I was @ Queens.

it was so clear that it was about the sponsor...did you hear anything about the tournament? was it crowed? did the players like it???

i know who else have been and played in queens *g*

Hehe Kill Bot did. But I didn't see him; I arrived on Monday and he lost in the Q.

No idea about the tournie in Warsaw, but a very challenger like line-up and probably same this year. No one gives a flying fook about clay right before Wimbledon. It's a tournament for Berlocq, Starace etc.

pingpong, I've been to some events in Europe (maybe not too many, but still :o) and it's true, so far Szczecin is the best organized event I've seen. And these Lexus cars last year :inlove: I had a private driver!

Polish challengers are like slams for our players, if they have a headache a week before, they'd withdraw. Last year Janowicz on one leg with one hand and hurting back beat Mahut (down goes the parlay) in his debut match on this level with an average serve 160 km/h sooooo........ :o

I'll ask the tournie director tomorrow or maybe Jerzy will arrive himself.

Currently yes, no doubt.
But Adrian had an injury this winter which hampared him to prepare this year. His performance last week in Heilbronn was correct and showed progress but sometimes he loses match which he can win easely (like last year against Reix in Lille's final ). He has to progress mentally.
