Welcome to Pick-A-Winner (PAW), the Predictions game!
Playing is simple: over the course of the tournament choose any 13 matches in the Main Draw and post who you think will win them. The scoring points besides each fixture represent the points you score if the corresponding player wins. Whoever has the most points at the end of the tournament is the winner.
If this is the first time you’re playing or you’re not familiar with the rules of the game, here’s a link to the Official PAW Rules (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=83408).
Commitments
In order to play in this tournament you should have posted a commitment to play in the PAW October commitment thread (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=131664). The deadline for commitments is October 19th, 2008
Wildcards
If you haven't posted a commitment until midnight (local time) on October 19th, you can ask for a wildcard. The number of WCs is limited to 5 per tournament. Any pick posted without having a WC or early commitment is not valid.
=> NEW From 2007 onwards we’ve limited the number of WCs for each player to 5 a year. You can keep track of how many you have used here (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=115122).
Posting your picks
Please post your picks in the following format:
PAW# Player A (winner) over/def Player B (loser)
# number of pick in ascending order (1 to 13)
Please use the official last names of players, not nicknames.
A valid pick must include the names of both players (winner first) and the word over or def.
Before posting picks, check that the matches haven't started yet. A pick that is posted after a match started is invalid and may be replaced. In case a match doesn't take place due to withdrawal or change of the draw, the pick is invalid and may be replaced. If a player retires or defaulted after the match has started (even if one point was played), the pick is valid.
Changing your picks
If you want to amend a previous pick (cancel or change), quote the original post and add a new message. Don't edit the post and never delete it!
A moderator will scan this thread every day to track on deleted/edited posts. If you're caught cheating, you will be automatically disqualified from this tournament. In certain cases, you might be banned from playing temporarily or permanently. Please play fairly, everybody!
Don't forget, you're limited to 13 picks throughout the whole tournament.

October 18th: PAW Thread is open and scoring points are up! Good luck everyone :)
October 20th: oranges, scarecrows, digor and Labamba are the happy ones who picked Hrbaty over Tursunov. With those 33 points the fight for the title is a little bit exclusive to them now . For those who didn't picked Hrbaty, and keep fighting :rocker2: The fans are in a deep depression with Kunitsyn's first round exit  He probably felt the pressure of having his picture in the very first post of the thread.
October 21st: Update done missing 3 matches. The final update will come a bit late, but it will come :p
October 21st again: Finals matches ended earlier than expected so the update is done already. digor takes the lead with a great Lejnieks/Hrbaty/Kukushkin combination, but #1 scarecrows also looks strong in terms of average points.
October 22nd: Just a few people scored today, and digor holds the lead!
October 23rd: Davydenko withdrew. Picks involving his match against Elgin can be replaced.
October 23rd again: Full update done. digor is still the leader, but many player are getting closer :scared: Tanking got Golubev correctly :worship: and is back on track!
October 24th: Kielian doing some brave picks and takes the lead :worship: Everything to be decided in the 2 final days!
October 25th: Martin takes the lead, 1 point ahead of Kielian  The title will be decided on Sunday :)
October 26th: Final update done, Martin is the champion :worship: Thanks everyone for playing :wavey:
Hello PAW players, welcome to our St. Petersburg tournament :wavey:
Even looking a less attractive tournament than Basel in terms of number of commitments, we have 5 top ten players here :woohoo: Let's see who are the favourites to bring the trophy home.
It's hard to put the dogs in an order, so here's a random one:
Renaud - The Kazakh is certainly a strong name in the field. #4 in the Entry Ranking and the very #1 at the Champions Race, Renaud also won the Kremlin Cup two weeks ago with a Kunitsyn (worship:) winning 13th pick. Cultural roots helps this player at Russia! P.S: It's good to remember what? That Renaud performs well at VaiBrasil's managements bla bla bla. But what's to do, he/she does  We miss TankingTheSet here
gulzhan - It's unthinkable mentioning Renaud without mentioning gulzhan. The extremely united Kazakh duo always show its PAW abilities wherever they are. #10 in the Entry Ranking and #8 at the Champions Race, gulzhan should clinch the Shanghai spot here, this if he/she hasn't done so :yeah:
scarecrows - Genci is coming from his first Masters Series crown in Madrid, which is his PAW career peak until now. The manager is a little bit mad at him, as he will probably defeat the manager in Madrid in the tiebreaker, by having more winning picks (I'm assuming that a tired Gilles Simon will lose to Murray) and avoid a second straight title for the manager there :ras: Anyway, we have to be impartial and consider that the Albanian guy is a great player. Masters Cup material as well as both mentioned above.
EDIT: He is also the new number 1 in the World :worship:
njnetswill - #3 in the Entry Ranking and #2 at the Champions Race, the New Jersey Nets fan is the 4th guy guaranteed in the Masters Cup playing in St. Petersburg. A tremendously regular and talented PAW player, he will definetely be at the top of the standings table next Sunday, as well as he does almost every week. Showing a Vince Carter-Devin Harris quality performance is the prime objective this week!
Frooty Bazooty - Our master PAW player, the one who brought the game to MTF, is disappointed with what happened in Madrid. Despite earning a few euros with Murray over Federer, Frooty saw scarecrows clinch the title with the Simon pick over Nadal. Now it's time to forget the chance wasted and foccus at this tournament, which can be a passport to Shanghai. The manager believes in that, and a 5th player to play in the TMC is this one.
Underdogs to watch - ntorcida shouldn't be called as an underdog, but as we have 5 top ten here and he/she is the #13 in the Entry Ranking, we will do that  with a Grand Slam title in the bag (last year's Wimbledon), the Croat is in the boarder to reaching the Masters Cup. Martin and Labamba are in the 20-30 gap in the rankings and both have chances of going to Shanghai with outstanding results here and in Paris. The top manager sdtoot looks forward to break the top 30 and has the same chances as the previously mentioned players of playing the Year End Cup.
The Russian fans are the ones happy to appreciate the best level of PAW in action. Good luck to all players, the Masters Cup dream is still alive and the most important, have fun with this great game. Let the show begin! Davai! Davai! Davai!

Really pleased to win my third PAW title! :D Although it really couldn't have been closer.
Quite ironic that I won in Doha at the start of the year with Murray winning in the first tournament of the year and then again when he wins the last regular season tournament :p A double Scottish triumph ;)
Thanks VaiBrasil for doing a tremendous job :worship:
