What a Shocker which match was put into the Stateside coverage

I'm not a big fan of Ivan's but after getting so royally screwed at the Open last year...I hope that even if he can't win he makes it the tightest match possible.

I want to see a Roddick vs. Kiefer final- that should be interesting.

The Roddick-Ljubicic match should alson be interesting. With Ljubicic having been stung by a bee in the ass in his last match, and there having been a lot of 'sting' between the two in the past, this should be interesting :aplot:

NBC must be thrilled that they can show this on a one hour delay. That way at the 1-0 game they can take 5 minutes of commercials, come back for the 2 games (approx. 5 minutes), and then air another 5 minutes of commercials, etc.

If there's ever a 4 ALL game they'll take an opportunity for commercials there to. But remember...this is "Live"

And they'll definitely make sure it stretches two hours so that they won't be forced to show Kiwi. Only one of the best out there right now.

Neely, I'm watching the match on tape delay but I have no doubt that when they get to the TB that Roddick won based on Ivan choking

Winning a TB 12-10 is not exactly being "tough to overcome"

Winning a TB 12-10 is not exactly being "tough to overcome"
with tough to overcome I mean primarly Roddick's brilliant tiebreak stats these seasons in general, not this tiebreak
or when is it more difficult to win a tiebreak? against a guy who is 1-9 this season or 22-5 in tiebreaks?

still pulling it out 12-10 and staying in the match is an effort, no matter if Ivan choked or not

Kiwi's going to give us another LONG match. I was hoping that he would be able to break early and conserve energy to kick Junior's ass tomorrow.
yeah, that would really be a big dream for me :yeah: ... but my current impression is that Kiwi is losing serve too often (against deVoest, Karlovic in the 2nd set, against Srichaphan as he was broken even serving for the match) and if you can't hold serve on your own, you are in a lost situation if Andy is whipping you around with his 145mph serves and almost unbreakable

Kiwi's way of beating Andy is:
- NEVER lose own serve
- returning like hell
- be agressive
- hold him to his backhand side
- Kiefer must wear him out using his legs and do it like Rainer did it beating Andy
- in a tiebreak, holding every serve of your own and getting one more point on Roddick's serve
- praying to God that Andy throws in some double faults and has to go as often as possible over his 2nd serve

kiwi is that kind of player
he can play amazing, and then drop so fast in his level
but i am amazed that he is so focused and not down on himself, because he lost 3 finals this year and that is tough
and this could be his 2nd b2b finals

Neely
07-24-2004, 10:18 PM
and this could be his 2nd b2b finals
yeah, and even more worse, this could be his 4th lost final this year and his 2nd back-to-back loss in a final :banghead:

but I hope he pulls out the positive things even from a final defeat... a final loss is better than nothing but 1st/2nd round exits

i also noticed that he said afther a lot of matches that he won, that he didn´t play his best but he fought and got the wins
that is a good sign
that is what is building a winning mentality, to play not so good but still win

But it could be his 1st b2b finals in only 2 weeks, because memphis and scottsdale was with a break of 1 week between it
and 2 weeks of great tennis is new for him

hi Neely my friend
how are you doing :wavey:
mate, I'm sitting in front of a live scoreboard with a constant pulse of 180 and sweating buckets because Kiefer can't hold to 15 or love easily and always falls behind 0-30 or 15-30 on own serve
does this answer your question

It's not "new" for Kiwi he just hasn't done this in years. I'm still so afraid to have expectations in him because i got use to appreciating whatever he was willing to give.

Thank goodness for Thomas Hogstedt!! He's apparently been good for Nicolas and instilling that fighting quality in him.

As I asked yesterday? He's left so much of himself out there this week...how much can he possibly have left?

Neely
07-24-2004, 10:49 PM

IMO not enough, because Roddick is still Roddick
but if things are going his way he might have a chance

German tennis is again on its rise with Schüttler, Haas, Kiefer, Mayer
chance to upset every nation in the Davis Cup except Argentina and Spain on clay

Yep becasue we know Andy played just terrible right!!?? :( :o  God, you guys have made some of the lamest excuses for a player losing that i've ever seen. :o Andy lost becasue he was tired in TMC, lost because he served poorly, etc, etc. You cant give the other guy credit can you.

 What is he? More than human? There's nothing special about Junior's game. If Kiwi happened to go out there with the attitude like that he might as well default but I don't think he will. When he's feeling confident he can exploit all of Roddick's weaknesses...and he's feeling confident ;) .

Junior? Where did that come from?

Anyway, I would love to see Nic win this one. He just can't go 0-4 this year, too heartbreaking.

I've been calling him Junior since last year when he began to remind me of someone else that I didn't like on tour. It's just that most of the time I don't have Roddick as part of my posting but because of Ivan choking here I am having to include in convo about the Final

You must know one thing.....for me yesterday Andy game with Ljubicic is very real for my self, I know wery well Ivan and I know that will be difficult match, I sad "Final after Final" today is the second story...Roddick have big confidence and he can win today in 2 sets.....every time when play Roddick vs Ljubicic always is difficult game and because of thata no one can't sad that Roddick play badly.....today it will be a another game..you'll see.....regards
