He did today just as the rain delay helped yesterday. As soon as he blew that break in the 2nd I had a bad feeling about his level of confidence.

He went from no doubles faults to 5 in a matter of games

Now it's up to Kiwi for me to even have a small interest in the outcome of this tourney. 2 hours away!!

melx
07-24-2004, 12:40 AM
roddick looks strong so even even though he couldnt convert these break points
all the world is always complaining about that roddick is just serve but they all dont know anything and dont think about how this guy is winnig his matches, a grand slam, several other tournaments
you cant do that just with having nothing but a serve

as we saw earlier today it doesnt use much Grosjean his complete game if he cant win against Ljubicic

jole
07-24-2004, 12:45 AM
Today Dominik is facing a slightly better serve than Joachim's from last night, and then Andy's ground game is obviously one of the top 3 or so in the world.

jole
07-24-2004, 12:48 AM
Roddick wins 6-2 6-3, he was simply too good.

07-24-2004, 01:29 AM
btw guys... this is why the Grosjean/Ljubicic match stopped at 6-5 30-0 in the first set :sobbing: :haha:
-----
By Bill Scott, July 23, 2004
INDIANAPOLIS -- An irate insect injected put some sting into the
game of Ivan Ljubicic, firing the Croatian to a 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 upset win over French third seed Sebastien Grosjean Friday at the RCA Championships.

The quarterfinal victory proved to be painful for the 25-year-old former Bosnian war refugee, but it led to Ljubicic achieving his first semifinal since May on clay in Hamburg.

"I saw it in the game before that, it followed me over on the changeover," laughed Ljubicic, who said that the flying pest didn't seem to leave a stinger as it honed in on the target.

Ljubicic had to be treated off court from ATP trainer Paul Ness midway through the 12th game of the first set when he was stung on the right buttocks while trailing Grosjean 6-5, 30-0.

You beat me to the punch Bunk, I was gonna post that quote. Isn't that hilarious though, the wasp/bee or whatever the hell it was gave Ljubicic some momentum to win the match.

Go Paradorn.

Tricky_Forehand
07-24-2004, 01:57 AM
 @ Ivan's predicament. Makes it even more of a pisser that Seb lost though

Well, I made it all of 5 minutes listening to the radio commentary. I don't know what made me think I could handle it considering that Bud Collins irritates the hell out of me!!

loner1984
07-24-2004, 02:00 AM
It's gonna be Roddick v Ljubicic, a rematch of last year's U.S Open where apparently Lju talked some smack about Roddick and something about favortitism with the tournament. Roddick in 3.

loner1984
07-24-2004, 02:01 AM
I can't get 950 am on my radio...I'm in GA though. That might explain why.

loner1984
07-24-2004, 02:05 AM

Sweeet!!! Thanks Bunk. I can even hear the players strike the ball!!! Wow this is technology.

You're welcome! :) They've been on every night this week and I've rather enjoyed it.

As for Andy and Ivan, I would hope that both of them are mature enough to not let what occurred last year affect their match :)

loner1984
07-24-2004, 02:18 AM
Damn dude, the scoreboard is way way ahead of the radio telecast. It's kinda unnerving. I don't mind the ads though.

loner1984
07-24-2004, 02:47 AM
I think its safe to say that whomever wins this set is gonna win the match. The tension in this set would be just too much. There's gonna be a decline in performance in whomever loses this set.

Neely
07-24-2004, 02:47 AM
wow, that was quick, without deuce :smoke:

5-4* Sricha

yea Neely it does sound like high-quality tennis... I'm enjoying listening to it :)

But gosh it only seems right for this to end in a tiebreaker lmao

loner1984
07-24-2004, 02:59 AM

loner1984
07-24-2004, 03:01 AM
I just had this crazy thought. I know its quite impossible but what if Ball and Kiwi break Santoro and Clement's record in only 3 sets. Impossible??? Impossible is nothing...says the Adidas slogan which by the way sponsors both athletes.

Deboogle!.
07-24-2004, 03:02 AM
Aight fellas, here we go. I think this tiebreak should go to like 20 or something.

LOL That would only be fitting... poor guys I really feel for you I really do :awww:

Deboogle!.
07-24-2004, 03:08 AM
that's about the craziest single set I remember. Only fitting that someone would save 5 set points then win on an unforced error. Too bad all that tennis had to come down to that, but that's tennis.

I'd expect Kiefer to roll now....

Neely
07-24-2004, 03:08 AM
ONE HELL OF AN ACHIEVEMENT FOR KIEFER TAKING THIS SET

no matter how this match ends, he can be proud of himself that he is fighting so hard

that's the Kiefer I know from 1997 to 1999 when he was at the semis at the ATP Championships :worship:

Tricky_Forehand
07-24-2004, 03:11 AM

One more set!!!

Neely
07-24-2004, 03:12 AM

I don't want to sound too negative but I think Paradorn doesn't have a second wind tonight.

If Kiwi was unhappy with how he played yesterday...
yes, that's right... he was not very content about the way he played against de Voest, this is what he said on his homepage

he promised to try better in his next match and the 1st set is already a prove that he made his promise come true even if he should lose this

Neely
07-24-2004, 03:43 AM

yeah, that's really a big number of unforced errors for both players :o ... but still it seems to be high quality and very exciting... and the number is not as big when you consider that they played already 200 points, as many as some players play when a matchs ends 7-6 6-7 7-6 for somebody

I don't see how this match was THAT Great...... each player had over 60 errors! :o

but an exciting and interesting affair to listen to nonetheless! :)

Neely
07-24-2004, 04:35 AM
as I explained you above this match had WAY OVER 200 points, not just 100 points when many errors have another big impact.

Neely
07-24-2004, 04:43 AM
also, did you hear how many TREMENDOUS POINTS both players played, how Kiefer won the match with that backhand lob or how he saved a dangerous situation at 30-30 with an AWESOME halfvolley on his backhand side. How he was retrieving overhead smash's of Paradorn, how both guys were hitting the lines, how many forehands Paradorn whipped around the court?

such classy and skillful things outgun every 6-4 6-4 with just 10 unforced errors of every player

Paradorn and Kiwi showed the full repertoire of tennis... how did they say "these are the sort of matches that make you love this game"

yes, it is :yeah:
