It begins by Metz where he received a WC (thanks to Julien Boutter) In the local newspaper there is an interview where he doesn't deal with his adductors and seems in a good fit:

http://actu.republicain-lorrain.fr/imagesJournal/144916Arnaud%20Cl%C3%A9ment.jpg

• Heureux, on suppose, de cette wild card…
« Franchement, oui !

• Pourquoi ?
« J'adore venir à Metz. Tout me plaît.

A translation :

Happy of this WC, we suppose ...
"Honestly, yes! I absolutely wanted to come to Metz and I would have play the qualies but the same day (Saturday) there is my brother's wedding. So I couldn't come. "
• Coming back on your season, an average level in ranking but again full in emotions.
"Yes, as at Wimbledon. Without this tournament, my year wouldn't have be the same. It saves 2008 by this result (quarter-final and match ball for semi-final), by the confidence and the desire that's it gived me. I play tennis for living this kind of thing, preferring these emotions to a more consistent but flat season. "
• The Beijing Olympics are to be placed in this category?
"Unfortunately ... A big disappointment (quarter-finals in doubles with Llodra). I didn't digested, it will take time. Beyond the way,the opponents, it's have serve at 4-3 in the third set and then for the match without managing to win these games. While in double, it is usually easier. I piss off. Being at two points of a medal! Yes, I piss off. Being so close to a podium is the opportunity of your life ... And I've missed. I think everytime, playing, training. "
• This Olympic duel has been exciting anyway, with the intensity and the duration!
"Between us, I really don't care to finish at 22-20 in the fifth set. We remember only the important match that we missed. "
• A cruel disillusion which can lead you to stop with tennis?
"Oh, no! No doubt about that. I look in 2009 with plenty of motivation. Physically, I'm not too bad. No sign of abating. Thirty years I'm here and I'm good. Ready to finish the year with these tournaments in France. "

"More and more high"

• The draw of the Open de Moselle inspires you ?
"High level. As every year, this is not a news. Increasingly high indeed laughs) I have done well to win the first time (in 2003)! "
• La Clé gets a chance?
"The draw can open, you never know. You could be in a great shape for a week. But in Metz, you're sure of one thing: you've to be ready from the first minute of the first match. As you necessarily play good players very quickly. But in the Open de Moselle, I have more luck than elsewhere. "
• Why?
"I love coming to Metz. I like everything . The environment, city, crowd, I have many friends, even people from the hotel have a nice word to me. These are details, but they count. They help you to feel good. So, obviously, your chances are greater than elsewhere to do something here, although this is not a guarantee! "
• In the Arenes, we will see you single and double?
"Yes, with Micka. We are the helder of the title, no? It is true that in 2008 it was badly with our respective injuries but I'm not worried about our level of play ... "

A summary :)

He won 1st set but it was tough and strange. He made two times the break leading 4-2 and served for the set at 5-3 but finally won the set on De Voest serve at 5-4. From 4-2 for Arnaud none of them won his serve.

And of course at the beginning of the second set, he lost his third service game in a row . He broke back the following game. After one service game holding by love, he lost again his serve at 2-2 on a DF. He lost it also at 3-4 to loose the set 2-6. In this set he got only 38% of 1st serve with 3 DF.

In the third he began by hold his serve but lost it on the first break ball at 1-1. At 2-3, he was 40-00 up on De Voest serve but missed these 3 break balls to finally won the one after 1st deuce. Then you had already guess he lost his serve at 5-5 (it was very funny in a way lol)to lost 5-7. A duration of 2h35

It was as if he was not on the court in the second and at the beginning of the third. Maybe a lack of competition or of training ? The end of the match was close but De Voest was opportunist and Arnaud febrile. Anyway, loose to De Voest is not very glorious especially with a WC

They should play their double quarter tomorrow or friday, after that it's Stockholm where he probably won't have a such a nice draw. I'm not sure it's very useful to ask WC for Lyon and Bercy  and if he doesn't enter the others qualies draw, he's probably soon in holidays for single match :drink:

He sounds good and he's definitly funny . "They were beautiful, happy and it's was nice to see " about Bruno's wedding. It's the sentence of the day on the FFT website.

"I'm disappointed even if i doesn't seem to be. I had the ascendancy in 80% of the points but I was bad in finishing."

He acknowledges that he missed a good draw and he said that even if he was motivated but his concentration fluctuated and it was a match of come back. For the end of the season, he knows that draws will be different but think the season is not finished

As usual, he's not worried.

A pic on the blog found by Truc http://latourcamoufle.hautetfort.com/tag/match%20a.%20clement%20contre%20r.%20de%20voest and we learn that's Arnaud was agressive toward the umpire in the third.

But 7-5 is not a tie-break  so maybe everything is wrong.

They won their semi 11-9 in the super tie-break after saving 2 match points according to the FFT website. The final will be the remake of last year. I have followed a bit the beginning and they were 1 set down and a break down in the second when I stop to follow.(Micka was just broken )

For Stockholm Arnaud gets again a qualifier  but we can notice that a player like Juan Monaco plays the qualies and we know that a bad ranked player is not a reason to be optimist  and he doesn't play double  Micka will play it with Santoro in Moscow ;)

In the short FFT audio, Arnaud said he's not yet at 100% and he added that's today Gicquel and Ascione was maybe better but play every week together helped them.

They won 5-7/6-3/10-8:worship: The polish seems to have really well played today. They lost only one point on their serve in first set  and Micka & Arnaud got only one BP but they converted it . In the super tie-break our guys needed 4 match points to conclude.

They had a lot of chance this week because they won their three last matches winning less points than their opponents. In the local newspaper Arnaud said today that he'll be happy to not go in Shanghai this year prefering to go in holidays at the same period  and he doesn't want go back in China this year  So we can conclude that's he won't spend his holidays in beijing

Easy win 6-2 / 6-1

First set : an easy start with two love games and after a tough service game with 2 BP saved followed by an other break he was 5-1 on serve. Rehnquist earned one break back but Arnaud concluded the set on the following game.

Second set : Exactly the same scenario Arnaud breaks to lead 3-0; 4-1 and 5-1 but there concluded on his serve.

Well, the good news is that he can always beat a weak opponent :) Nieminen tomorrow

Nah I wish I could look like him when I'm tired  I saw those ageing bones in action on Monday - when this poor exhausted guy just arrived to the club after Metz final. He was rushing around like a meteor, never steady, always bouncing here and there. He needed to manage some issues at the info desk, it took him about 10 minutes, and every single second he was into something: turning to the left and to the right to chat to someone or shake hands, slapping somebody on the back, standing on tiptoe to see what's going on at the desk as he was the shortest guy over there etc.

1st set : no BP occasion for Arnaud and the traditionnal shock at 4-4 (broken by love).

2set : Arnaud breaks at 2-1 and leads 4-1 and 5-2. He misses a set point on Nieminem serve and the following game Jarkko debreaks on his first break point of the set. 5-5. Arnaud misses again 2 set points on Jarkko serve :o but wins finally the tie break :)

I stopped to follow after the second set but with stats we can see that Arnaud missed also all his BP opportunities in third

It was winable for sure

As all along this season  He no more wins close match. All the struggles have the same conclusion

I think he had saved his direct entry in Australian Open but he can maybe be out of the Top 100 at the end of season.

For Madrid he's 6# on alternate Qualification list for the moment so not sure to play. Does he will prefer to prepare Lyon where he's not sure to enter either ?

hope you're having a great time! (needless to say) but why aren't you in moscow  (not the city but for the players, i mean )
I was and I had, thanks  I left my paradise on Tuesday afternoon.

Well, I just go to Stockholm for a few days every October, it has nothing to do with tennis - but since I anyway had some things to do near the tennis club I thought to come in and then I had an unreal luck to meet Arnaud.
As for Moscow, I had a lot of good luck regarding its players, too, but that's another story lol
Because she hates Moscow and loves Stockolm... maybe ;)
No "maybe" ;)

That's a pity but Nieminen was a too tough opponent for the second round, I believe this guy has pretty good chances to win the whole tournament.

As for the serve and wasted break points, I believe it's also the matter of the court. I don't know what's wrong with its surface, but almost everyone maybe except the local players (and I think Nieminen is also a sort of a local player) had a lot of problems with their serve. Then there is also the light problem. It's really dark on court, for those matches played before 5 PM it's more or less fine because there is additional light coming from windows, but the evening matches are being played in pretty bad light conditions. So no wonder Arnaud had to wear his glasses.

As for the rest, he seemed to be just fine and happy with everything. He believes he's in a good form (), the injury doesn't bother him at all and so everything is almost perfect regarding his health. Coach absence also doesn't seem to bother him any much, he's going to care about it during the off-season or maybe in the beginning of the next year.

In the tie-break they had, at least, 6 set points most on Polish serve but also two on Arnaud serve . Polish concluded on their second match point, the first was saved by an ace of Mica but the second was on Arnaud serve. They finally lost it 14-16

They can go back home now :). The field of Metz wasn't very tough but for Lyon and Bercy it will be quite tough  but Arnaud can be happy now it's almost sure they won't go in Shanghai :rocker2:

Arnaud was irritated as always when he does not to develop his play!

I think that the presence of his close relations (Bruno, Nolwenn, and his father) are more for him! often they turned to them, Bruno, Nolwenn told him full encouragement. I saw at the exit, he signed autographs and he said to a boy who spoke to him about the match " he very badly played" , and he was irritated and that on the blow it s' is carried by saying words not very sympathetic but that in these moments there, the words exceed his thoughts! :D

I didn't know bruno was also in Lyon. He still can follow his brother when the tournaments are in france, but it was weird to see him with "casual clothes", not as the coach. (that makes me think it's going to be time to choose his new trainer !)
A pity arnaud is not able to play better in a front of his public and family, I had a look on his box, he has 2 great supporters, who never stop cheering for him.
Do you have a picture?
The only time I saw Bruno in (sort of) casual clothes was in Halle '06. We met him when he was wearing baggy beige cargo pants instead of sweatpants.
And ofcourse Bruno has the converses too ;)
Sounds a little stalkerish that I remember, but it really looked good and I seem to always remember when my fav's wear converse. I love those shoes :hearts:

He's in holidays :aparty: after their defeat in semi-final 3-6/2-6. We can notice that today they were broken two times on Micka's serve  (problem with his knee?) Anyway, only one title this year and considering next Davis Cup, Micka must play more often with one of the new musketeers imo :p without stop playing with Arnie of course :couple:.

thanks for all the reports :worship: what am I gonna do without mtf?

it's still only early november, so this is a nice long holiday. long enough to ponder on one's future... singles is going to get tougher... is he going to focus more on doubles? and with whom?

at least he does have a title this year

Two titles if we count the challenger one lol

I don't know if 2008 was the beginning of the end  but 2009 will begin with many qualies and challengers. After Wimbledon he will probably know if he's always a single player  And even if he said in l'Equipe that the most important was pleasure and he doesn't care of his ranking I don't see him going to play Challengers in Ukraine or Asia  Focus on doubles? If he plays qualies and challengers it won't be easy not before the second part of the season imo.

So true. We should never forget about Challengers

For some reason I also can barely imagine Arnaud as a Challenger player. And then also considering that new ranking points system they want to bring in action in 2009 it would probably make more sense to play qualies rather than Challengers.

And since there are anyway no other news... These days there is a big amateur tennis tournament in France. This year the direction of this tournament had an agreement with the Pro Federation, that they'll invite one top player to take part there. Arnaud, Micka and Fabrice we all up to play there lol But the direction has picked PHM
