Dimitrov looks like he's going to be the real deal. Nice run for Britton too. Hopefully this will give him some confidence that he can play with the top guns. I believe he is a serve and volleyer btw if anyone is interested.

:yeah:

Saw his first match and said he would win the tournament. Looks a real prospect. Pretty good serve, one of the best in juniors. Forehand is good, probably needs a little improvement before he goes onto the ATP but his backhand is one of the nicest single handers I've seen.

Good job Dimi :hatoff:

Bravo, Grigore!

BTW Grigor's idol is Roger Federer. I watched him last year in my hometown Ruse, Bulgaria very closely. It was for the teams cup in October. And his game is pretty much similar to Fed's. He uses the same combos as the Swiss. But I think his backhand is more like Gasquet's.

Hopefully he is well stepped on earth too.
I watched the Wimby final and Im sure he can beat some top 100 player right now.

One question- Will he receive a WC for next year's USO like in Wimbledon ?
If yes, then he will play 2 GSs next year.

US Open blog
SUNDAY

So guys last day and I'm so happy. I made it and I feel a lot better now. Faye has been following me the whole week so finally she's free, but I'm sad to lose her!

After a few hours I have to take a plane to Madrid and I am playing on Tuesday!

So last match in juniors and my last blog and from now on I'll be playing pro tournaments so I hoped you enjoyed reading my blog and I hope to see you again in the main draw next year.

I'm just waiting to go and get my trophy on Arthur Ashe stadium which is pretty cool. I can check out the court for when I play there next year ...;-)

So I wish you all good luck and good blogging. Thanks everyone, peace. wim V us (that's my new logo, get it, Wimbledon 2 US Open, you know a logo like David Beckham!) Only joking!

Bye

I would love to see this guy to make a breakthrough in the following season.
It will be very , very important to him to have good results at the beggining of the next year.
Though transition from juniors to pro circuit is one of the most dificult of all the sports.

Just have to ask fellow countryman Enev and Kristian Pless.

Dimitrov's got a great game, he's got a nice future ahead of him.

Congrats to Devin on a great tourney and exceeding all expectations.

I was also very impressed by Kontinen of Finland, nice game.

Nice too see that someone else has also noticed Henri Kontinen :). He is very much hyped here in Finland as a successor to Jarkko. There are also quite a few other junior players coming from here, tennis is finally gaining some ground :).

Not so surprising that there are juniors coming up with one-handers, after all, tennis is subject to trends as well as anything else. Those kids that watched Federer at his peak and were fans of his probably switched to one-handers. Same thing with Nadal now, kids coming up in some years will have two handers and capri shorts :D ;)

The present GOAT hadn't fared much better at age of 17 ;)

Last year Grigor's coach/manager from the tennis academy in Spain where Grigor trains had said the same. It didn't happen. And I don't believe it will happen in 2009 either. The transition from junior's to men's tournaments may be not that smooth. We will see. Good luck though.

The transition will be tough for him, losing to guys like KIndlmann so clearly is not a good sign, he has to toughen up a bit, phisically and mentally....
