Shame there was only about 30 people watching - because that last tiebreak was something else entirely.

Muller hit Davydenko will a ball between points delivering the ball to the other end of the court

Kolya NOT happy and got really fired up and hit some amazing clutch shots...but Muller just held his ground and didn't give it away - and in the end Kolya double faulted and then found the net on MP.

Davydenko made some silly errors on SP's in the final set but for the most part that was a fantastic match. The TB was just amazing with that one Davydenko FH winner the best shot I've seen in the tournament so far. Muller fully deserves this win, the half volleys he was coming up with over and over again were world class.

After that incidence he went from *4-3 to 4-5* at first, so maybe it didn't help him at all.

Great tournament for Gilles. I remember when he beat Roddick in the first round a few years ago playing fantastic tennis. There was a lot of buzz about him and then he proceded to lose in the next round and fall of the radar.

Nice to see him fulfilling some of the promise he showed then even if it is at "middle age" for tennis.

What a muggified mugaffair from these 2 mugs. I can't believe that the mugs Mugges Mugger and Mugolas Mugymugo even had a shot to get to the QF here.

All joking aside, all I saw was part of that last tiebreak, and there was some excellent stuff going on. Nice win by Mugges.

Muller...

... what a player... unbelieveable 4th set...

I dont undertsand tho... Muller must have had mug-flu for 5 or 6 years or something...

he had the worst mental condition I have seen in my life during those 5-6 years. it's like he says it's all in the head. last year he would have smashed his racket in that second set a few more times and given up on the match. no wait... he would have lost in the first round of the qualies or something lol

it was hard to support Mulles while playing challengers these past years..finally there is a highlight in his career and this is a REAL one not a one match highlight. I have never lost hope ...finally he shows that he CAN play:D

so true! I hope he can continue now!! we always knew he had talent, he finally shows it!!
I didn't see much of the match, but from what I saw the level was much higher than the one in the federer-andreev match. I saw the end of the tie-break though... that was something!!

Exactly, that guy had a win over Roddick in USO and then called it career and mainly kept losing in challenger early rounds

Kinda reminds me of Verkerk's RG run, they are both party challenger players for whom practise and hard work are just options :p

But I can't help liking Muller, he's a good guy.

With the significant difference that Verkerk's career was by no means in a slump at the time of his RG run, whereas Muller has been on the slide throughout the season. And has reached the QF by at times displaying exactly that dreadful form that has plagued him all year, judging from what I saw of the match against Davydenko. That was truly scary, bad stuff in the second set :o

Of course, all credit to the guy, for whom this result is a major accomplishment and will probably be his top career achievement.

What suprised me was his forehand, he posseses quita an impressive accurate whip forehand.

that would happen if it was a nobody...but he's the former world's number one in junior tennis, he beat many top 10 players in the past years. This could be a turning point in his career and why shouldnt he stay now in the top 100 for the next few years...he has the weapons to do so, dont you think?
