it seems that the players in the poll of Marca.com for a WC in the Main Draw will be:

- Moya
- Ljubicic
- Gulbis
- Baghdatis
- Dancevic

This poll has no sense, but well...

Does Ferrero has any option of getting a WC or does he going to need to go to qualies?

PereRibaFan
10-09-2008, 06:11 AM
They didn't give a WC to Ferrero :o :retard:

WC's went to: Moyá, Safin and an Italian player still to be announced

Juanqui still has options to enter as SE if he reaches the Semifinals at Vienna, or maybe he can take Moya's WC if Carlos gets the SE spot

Anyway, this is a lack of respect to Juan Carlos

Here are the news in Spanish:

Ferrero, ex número uno mundial y campeón del torneo en 2003, no ha sido elegido por la organización para las tres plazas de wild card, que se adjudican a Carlos Moyá, Marat Safin y a un italiano aún por designar: éste último, parte del convenio de intercambio con el Masters Series de Roma.

Maybe Bolelli or Fognini will get a WC too for the MD, as it seems there's a special agreement with the Italian Federation this year.

Which tournaments are giving the SE for Madrid? All of them?

duong
10-10-2008, 12:16 PM
Melzer is hot favourite to get the SE
if he beats Lopez

From what I understood from the ATP rulebook,
he's even sure to get it if he beats Lopez and if he wants it,
since he has the best ATP ranking from those who might ask for it.

If Melzer loses, maybe they could give the special exempt to Moya or Safin, and then give a wild card to someone else, maybe to Ferrero ?

(but only if Moya had asked for it)

After them it's Montanes then Troicki (who is one break ahead in the final set)

No only a player who reaches the Semi of an International Series Gold event
Vienna or MoscowMoscow isn't a gold event. Only players from Vienna are eligible for a SE spot in Madrid.

PereRibaFan
10-10-2008, 02:48 PM
if Melzer and Moya win today, who will be the SE in Madrid?

I guess it will be Moya because he's ranked higher than Melzer at the Alternates list, but I'm not sure.

jitterbug

Moya already got the wildcard though, he wouldn't need the SE slot

Actually it's Melzer because the rankings which count are those of the last rankings, not the one 6 weeks ago which were used for the entry-list.

Besides, Smucav is right : Moscow is not a gold event even if it gives as many points as Vienna, because it gives more money.

And Montanes plays in Stockholm ...

Then well, if Melzer wins and if he wants it, it's Melzer.

If not, it could only be the winner of Moya-Petzschner.

If it's Moya, what is changed is that I guess they could give the wild-card to someone else, maybe Ferrero (and as for Moya, he would get 5 ranking points if he loses in the 1st round in Madrid as a special exempt, while he would get 0 point as a wild-card).

So If someone oulls out in the next 2 hours, Moya get in

Who gets his Wc??

Lopez or the second placed player in the Marca Vote ??

you mean Ferrero, I guess, since Lopez is already in.

yes, Moya might be in either if someone pulls out or if Melzer loses and he wins.

and the 2nd in the Vote was Gulbis, also already in.

the 3rd one is Baghdatis, but I wonder about his health

I wouldn't understand why they wouldn't give it to Ferrero : he plays quite well recently.

PereRibaFan

Looks like JCF could get in after all

For Bolelli no chances for the main draw ?

Great !
Moya has lost, but anyway, they could give their WC to anybody else.

Maybe they might give it to Ljubicic (first alternate and former finalist) ?

They have just published the qualy draw with Ljubicic in it

My money is on Ferrero;)

Can't they give the WC to someone entered in the qualies ?

Since someone has posted an article saying that Ferrero doesn't want a WC anyway.

Judio, ferrero said to marca that even if they offered the WC again, he would deny it for being so disrespectful.
