What are you trying to say? Del Pony has only beaten a bunch of clowns in this streak?

If so, I agree.

If you count Haas in that bunch of clowns, then I agree

Every streak is amazing, there were no big names in it, Haas is retiring any minute now, Roddick is way of his prime, Gasquet is lost in translation, all the others are just mugs, but it is still a great run for an up and coming youngster......

I don't agree.
Simon was a big test already, he won to Federer...
Besides, Del Potro played vs. Murray two times in junior, and got a set in Roma.
If he loses 6-0 6-0 6-0 to Andy, It'd be okay, because his goal was to reach the 2nd week.
So, he is over his objective. He's satisfied.

Also keep in mind JMDP was ranked 65 at the beginning of the streak, had never reached an ATP final, and he's still only 19. You can't analyze the streak in a vacuum. Given the context, no one can deny it's an amazing feat.

Relax folks. That streak doesn't include the big tournaments of the summer like Montreal or Cincinatti so we can conclude that's it's just another mickey mouse run. Let the kid enjoy it. Chances are it's the only time of his career that he will manage to put up a 20+ winning streak.

Well. the important thing is not the streak in itself, but the fact that Del Potro had an excellent tournament at the US Open, reaching the quarterfinals.

Most players would kill for the 20+ match winning streak and psychologically the mere fact of winning week after week has got to be a big plus for him. Like the look of this guy from what I've seen so far.

If he beats Murray, he'll have more than proved the streak wasn't a fluke. Even if he doesn't, it was still a very good streak. So what's the fuss? He'll probably get even better in the next year or so and challenge for the top ten.

Del potro is playing very well, regardless of who he played and that is fine with me, and he's still young so he might even improve :)

And i'm happy he's in the top 20 too :p

Top 15.

If he wins tomorrow (tough match up) he will be Top 10.

And has been struggling with injuries a lot.
If he can stay healthy (I hope so), he's a player to watch out for, for sure.

You shouldn't overrate the streak but don't underestimate it either. He has beaten some good players and also some bad players, but showed great tennis, great consistency, fitness and controlling his nerves. That's great for a kid that age. Reaching the quarter finals here as well is also great, despite the decent draw he had. He has a chance against Murray, no doubt about that.

the rankings of the players he beat dont always reflect how good they are.
