Which young gun will turn out the best?out_here_grindin 09-01-2008, 08:30 PM Del Potro Nishikori Querrey Gulbis Cilic Pfloyd 09-01-2008, 08:43 PM Del Potro is already being quite impressive. I´d give Nishikori a bit more time to develop physically, same goes with Cilic. So I say, the moment 1)Del Potro 2)Gulbis the rest... out_here_grindin 09-01-2008, 08:45 PM Nishikori may have injury problems and Gulbis seems like he can't keep a high level for long right now. JMG 09-01-2008, 08:45 PM Querrey isn't a "gun". out_here_grindin 09-01-2008, 09:41 PM I hope Gulbis and Nishikori do well Bilbo 09-01-2008, 09:49 PM Querrey isn't a "gun". more like a mug out_here_grindin 09-01-2008, 09:52 PM I guess that's why he had Nadal on the ropes and did very well this week. Bilbo 09-01-2008, 09:54 PM I guess that's why he had Nadal on the ropes and did very well this week. against a not even 50% nadal Andi-M 09-01-2008, 09:55 PM Shouldn't Donald Young always be in these polls?? out_here_grindin 09-01-2008, 09:55 PM and why was that? Querrey got into Nadal's head for the 2nd and 3rd set, hardly anyone does that. something about Querrey bothered Nadal. luie 09-01-2008, 09:57 PM and why was that? Querrey got into Nadal's head for the 2nd and 3rd set, hardly anyone does that. something about Querrey bothered Nadal. Nadal makes mugs look good on HC.:) Bibberz 09-01-2008, 09:57 PM I thought George was the only one who was allowed to start these types of threads. Bilbo 09-01-2008, 09:58 PM and why was that? Will somebody please start a "Which young mug will turn out the best?" poll? helgagonzalez 09-01-2008, 11:46 PM I would have to say Gulbis. :D Chip_s_m 09-01-2008, 11:51 PM Querrey will have a solid career. I think he'll be a regular fixture in the top 20, with some appearances in the top 10 at times. If he gets a slam it'll be a fluke, ToJo style. I voted for Nishikori. He and Del Potro are the only ones of this group who I see really challenging for slams. To me both of them just seem like they have the ability to sieze the moment, and don't tighten up in the big moments. SushiMinimal 09-01-2008, 11:59 PM querrey??? ArgieFan 09-02-2008, 12:06 AM What the hell is Querrey doing on that list?? I'd say Del Potro. Jaap 09-02-2008, 12:07 AM Del Boy. Vida 09-02-2008, 12:10 AM Cilic. He is the nastiest of them all off the ground, serve and at the net, and seems to be the most cool headed. Del Potro is great talent no question, but he's been injured... hmmmm... dunno, wish him all the best. Kei is too small, but blast the ball like crazy. Something tells me that his brains are gonna be fine, and he ain't gonna be no headcase. Just an impression. Still, will find it difficult to overpower big 'uns. Little faith in Querrey. No flare, and movement is elephantish. Gulbis is a first in headcase case order of the guys imo. Just how he acts on court, overly childish. Totally fits that 'spoiled rich boy' story that came up (though Im not sure its true). Had some nasty chokes and brakedowns. I like his game the most, along with Cilic's. Yup, Čila all the way. out_here_grindin 09-02-2008, 12:12 AM yeah Gulbis can play great for a set and a half. luie 09-02-2008, 12:13 AM Cilic. Yea !!! The elephantish type movement Had nadal running around like a headless chicken.:o Vida 09-02-2008, 12:16 AM Yea !!! The elephantish type movement Had nadal running around like a headless chicken.:o Doesn't matter. Cilic, Potro, not to mention Novak or Fed would toy with him. tennismaster882001 09-02-2008, 12:20 AM Yea !!! The elephantish type movement Had nadal running around like a headless chicken.:o Of course Querrey did play very well, but Nadal really wasn't and that's why he ran around like headless chicken! :p I'm sure Sam will have a nice future, just not sure how big, need to see more of his matches. out_here_grindin 09-02-2008, 12:25 AM Cilic will be a solid top 20. I want to see match between 2 of these guys Snoo Foo 09-02-2008, 12:27 AM Cilic will be a solid top 20. I want to see match between 2 of these guys Conveniently you can do that (http://www.justin.tv/whiscacho) right now. out_here_grindin 09-02-2008, 12:28 AM yeah. But Del Potro has that won pretty much. Gulbis vs Cilic would be a cracker. tennismaster882001 09-02-2008, 12:42 AM yeah. But Del Potro has that won pretty much. Gulbis vs Cilic would be a cracker. He has that won only because Nishikori is very tired. From this group of young "guns":p Del Potro got the best draw and that's why he is the one who is having most success. Cafisho 09-02-2008, 12:44 AM Delpo won 4 titles in a row, rested one week and now he's playing in the US open. Don't you think that he could be more tired.........? tripb19 09-02-2008, 12:50 AM I;m surprised Del Po is still going out there, must be utterly exhausted. tennismaster882001 09-02-2008, 12:52 AM Delpo won 4 titles in a row, rested one week and now he's playing in the US open. Don't you think that he could be more tired.........? Could be, but he is more used to playing consistently at higher level and I don't think he has to play at his best now. Kei had that long match against Ferrer where he gave his all to win. maconick 09-02-2008, 12:56 AM and why was that? Querrey got into Nadal's head for the 2nd and 3rd set, hardly anyone does that. something about Querrey bothered Nadal. YER HIS CLOWN FACE maconick 09-02-2008, 12:56 AM nishi over queerboy EnriqueIG8 09-02-2008, 01:31 AM Del Potro probably will become number 1 in tennis. Gulbis will make a top 3 ranking. Cilic and Querrey steady top 10. And Nishikori will finish in the top 20 at best IMO :). EnriqueIG8 09-02-2008, 01:33 AM Nadal makes mugs look good on HC.:) Yeah just look at the Jesse Levine match back in July. Nastase 09-02-2008, 01:41 AM Gulbis no doubt. cobalt60 09-02-2008, 01:43 AM Hmmm longterm I would count Kei,JMDP and Cilic to do the best over the years. ChampionshipPoints 09-02-2008, 01:48 AM I'd go with Del Potro. This kid is hot! He just won 4 tournaments prior to the USO. jcempire 09-02-2008, 05:51 AM Del Potro finally put everything together and look for a move into Top Ranking Gulbis would be another guy Also Sam and Cilic both are great young talents But In my oponion, who knows who will have the best career. | |
