Wow, that was an amazing comeback from Marin in the fourth set, I don't think that Robby choked it that much, it was more as a result of a Cilic's clutch play.

I like them both so it is sad to see one gone.

Congrats Cilic :yeah:
Wtf Ginepri? He is going to be so disappointed for letting that forth set slip away like that.

BobbyGOAT  cant believe he lost that 4th setReally?? You don't know him that well then :) Giving up a break lead when serving for the set isn't uncommon for Ginepri... neither is losing a set despite being two points away from winning it.

The more confident player with the bigger serve won... not a surprising result at all. Congrats to Marin! :yeah: Good luck in the next round

Ginepri must be one of the greatest GS gimps in the history of the sport.

Gets a tired Mugic and can't win.

I thought Marin did not have enough juice in him left for another 5 setter, but he gave it all for that comeback, deserved win....

What a great comeback in 4th. Not sure that Marin can win against Djokovic as he did look tired in 4th set.

Always great to see that mug Ginepri lose. How he made a GS semi-final the world will never know.

Robby really had a big chance of taking it to a 5. set but he couldn't get it done!

I was surprised with Cilic. He stayed calm all match long. You never had the feeling the crowd would influence him. He's mentally strong unlike players like Gulbis who crack under the pressure.

or his fellow Croatian, Ancic, who lost first 5 finals he played against players who were ranked well below him (never mind that they never won ATP title either.)

You mean the same Ancic who battles back from practically lost matches, the one who won the deciding match for the DC title and showed no nerves at all playing the decider against Italy recently. Just here to balance things out a bit ;)

Yes, he does battle, but he's yet to win one of those lost matches:wavey:

the one who won the deciding match for the DC title

If I remeber correctly it was against the player who was ranked 100++ and was never in top 100 (while he was top 10.)

I'll have to give you this one ;)

Yes, he does battle, but he's yet to win one of those lost matches:wavey:

You mean like the most recent one against Verdasco at Wimby ;)

If I remeber correctly it was against the player who was ranked 100++ and was never in top 100 (while he was top 10.)

But your argument was that he loses against lower ranked players, so what better example than one against lower ranked one in one of the most nerve-racking matches (in the sense of significance it has) he ever played. Mario has always been the one to play his best against top opponents and on a big stage, it's no secret. We can whine about losing a couple of MM finals against opponents he should beat into a pulp, but highlighting him as lacking mental toughness, I don't think so.

I'll have to give you this one ;)

Thank you :D
