What a comeback for Gilles, putting Luxembourg back on the map. The Luxembourgians have outlasted the Germans in this slam.

Big serving from Gilles.

Wimbledon 2004: Haas def. Dupuis 2-6 2-6 7-6(8) 6-4 8-6
US Open 2008: G.Muller def. Haas 2-6 2-6 7-6(5) 6-3 6-3

That's Tommy Haas, everything is possible in all directions.

Muller served 36 aces - his personal record (first time more than 30).

:haha: @ Haas Meltdown

This guy was too lazy to hit a forehand on a ball that was clearly in at 4-4 in the tiebreak. He then started to argue with umpire and linesman and then lost in 5.

:haha:

Yeah the replays showed that shot was plumb on the line and he practically had his back to the ball when it landed - he went mental at the umpire but he was in the wrong.

Didn't expect him to dump 2 more sets though.

:embarrassment:

It's second time in Haas' career when he is 2-0 up and two points away from victory to lose in five sets. He did it previously in Stuttgart Outdoor final in 1999 against Magnus Norman (7-6 6-4 6-7 0-6 3-6).

Haas thought to have the match in the bag when he won the second set. Then got upset with the ref after a call in the third set tie break (from the replay it looks like the ball is effectively in) and it went downhill from there.

Great comeback from Muller :D

I think leng jai has just hung himself.

Unlike you I wouldn't hang myself over tennis results. I've been a fan of Haas since 2000 so theoretically I should of hung myself about 8 times already. Guess I have a really strong neck.

LOL, what hype, there's like 10 of us who expect him to play like he can and that's about it. If SF and QFs of slams are not respectable results for anyone, let alone coming back from multiple shoulder surgeries, I don't know what to tell you :worship:

Tommy  :retard:

I stopped watching at 6-2, 6-2, 2-1. Tommy was just cruising throughout the match until then. I was sure he'll close it out in 3.
And now I see this result. :spit:

And losing to this Mugler is just adding to all the frustration.

I so agree. Tommy went through such a bunch of sh*t, I'm sure 99,99% of players would have thrown the towel already for long.

Fantastic comeback Gilles from 2:6 2:6 0:2 down!

He is finally showing his great talent again! :rocker2: (36 aces! :lick: )

If Gilles wins next match he will be the first Luxembourgish player of both ATP and WTA to have reached a fourth round of a Grand Slam! (Gilles Muller failed once in a GS third round, Anne Kremer three times and Claudine Schaul twice)
