What happened to Karanusic? Didn't feel like fighting?

Karanusic received massage on his thigh at 3-2* in the second set. But I don't know whether that was the reason for his retirement. He saved many BPs in the second set and even had BP on Kei's serve after receiving the massage.
He looked tired at times, maybe due to the long match he had in first round.

But congrats to Kei on reaching the third round!! :yippee:
It was good he had a short match today after cramping in the first round that went nearly 3 hours. :)
Today he looked less nervous and was going forward whenever he can seeing Karanusic was slicing a lot. His serve was a bit better too. :)

Nice win for Kei. :yeah:

Next up will be the first big test. It would be great to see him make a long run here.

I was at this match and I left literally four minutes before Karanusic retired. :o

Pretty good stuff from Nishikori, and he had great fan support at the match! He was swarmed for autographs and was interviewed for a while afterward.

Karanusic's fitness/physique really is a problem. The guy is quite injury-prone and this will hurt his ranking quite a bit.
