I can't wait for this one.

People were saying Andy sucks and will lose to Gulbis (or even Santoro ), but after convincing performance against Santoro, thing have changed a bit. However, Gulbis is no Santoro.
They haven't played each other yet.

Gulbis takes this one in 4 great sets! :wavey:
But it's going to be tough with loud american crowd behind Andy, hmmm.

I'll give anything to see Andy lose. I am an American and love American athletes but Andy is a disgrace and he needs to be put into retirement soon. I think seeing Andy lose is always one of the best scenes in any sport.

Pretty sure Roddick will take this one. Gulbis at the moment is still a pretty stupid player. Trying to hit winners going for risk shots all over the place won't do him any good against Roddick's monster serve if you ask me -_-

Sorry cyrusking, you will be disappointed again, A-Rod in 4. (maybe even 3 if his serves "really" on) I'm just don't think E-Gul has the mental strength to hold up under the kind of onslaught he will see from Roddick.

Roddick does like to tease. He will lose sooner than later :)

Roddick looked very good so I'll pick him in 4 sets.

Home slam, gotta expect Roddick to step up and take this.

Depends how often Gulbis' wild winners go in.

I think that Gulbis will win this one. Andy showed a really good performance against Fabrice, but Gulbis is another caliber!!!!

Come on, Gulbis. I hope he'll pull it off!

Gulbis is a terrible match up for Roddick.

I'm pretty sure this match will be on Arthur Ashe in the night session. Worst case for Gulbis. Needless to say Roddick will win this one.

While I would normally take Gulbis in this situation I think so many people expect him to win and that he will inevitably disappoint. Plus he is overrated at the moment as he isn't even a top 30 player yet. Roddick in 4 though I would relish seeing Gulbis beat him down.

Andrew Roddick.

I'm not picking anyone to win this one, just hope for a damn good match :)

Gulbis certainly has the firepower to break down Roddick's groundies, but Roddick has the home advantage on the center court. Plus, it will be pretty hard for Gulbis to break, while Andy will get more of such chances, as Gulbis tends to throw occasional very sloppy, crappy service games, and Roddick will definitely break here and there.

P.S. Gulbis has a good record vs those, who are ranked No 8 at the moment, when Gulbis plays them. Last year he won Robredo in US Open, and this year he won Blake in French Open and Cincy. This time Andy is the one, who is No 8 in the world ;)

Random Ernie/Andy factoid: they share the same birthday (Aug 30). Too bad they aren't playing that day.

Great trolls are funny and are often quoted in people's sigs. We are still waiting for your piece de resistance. :p

Roddick, probably in four sets. Andy beat Santoro decisively last night so he should be able to win this match.

Gulbis in 4, as Andy will wait for his opponent to self-destruct and it will not happen. Gulbis likes the venue and he seems to be extra-motivated in slams. Of course if we see the Gulbis persona from his AO match against Safin then Andy wins in 3.

I am very nervous about this match as I always am when two guys I like are playing I'd like them both to win for different reasons.

I can't say I'd be really surprised by any result, from an utter demolition by Roddick to an utter demolition by Ernie.

Gulbis in 5. Its Roddicks 'home slam' he wont go down tamely, but will be on back foot more often. I can't see him matching Gulbis in anything other than serve but he is more likely to sustain the level than the younger, less experienced opponent.

Should be a good match, without blowouts.

I hadn't realized Roddick is No. 8 in the world :D That seals it, Gulbis is going to win :yeah:

P.S. Gulbis was injured in Australia so we shouldn't judge his GS performance by that particular match.

I agree completely.

I agree with this.
Roddick doing a job on wild Ernie is probably the more likely but if Ernie can keep ball in court he will win he's the far better player.

You weren't lying when you said you weren't a hater. This is a balanced post.

I think Roddick in 4.
