Well done Ernests! A bit sloppy with the UF's in the first, but great effort in the second!

He will meet the winner of Roddick and Santoro.

As much as I saw on Eurosport, it seemed pretty sloppy by both.

Gulbis needs to improve his vollies and slice. Shot selection is sometimes a bit weird as well. Well, at least he wasn't bashing the ball so much today.

Btw, I hadn't spotted the fact which was mentioned by Eurosport commentators. If Roddick wins Santoro, then he will play Gulbis on August 30. But August 30 is birthday for both Roddick and Gulbis. A pretty interesting coincidence :)

the organizers will prepare a red, white & blue cake for roddick w/o knowing its gulbis' birthday as well.

never in doubt.

aarrrrrgggghhhhhh, fiiiiiinally I've watched some tennis. Gulbis is gonna be awesome in next couple of years, once he matures. There was no way pa Johannson would've taken him out today. Match was not so good as I've enjoyed watching Ernests play. A true ball torturer. Lets hope he won't go down the 'headcase' lane...

:eek: Well that is some coincidence :eek:
Since Roddick has already experienced how it feels to be humiliated at the USO on his birthday (if I'm not mistaken his first round loss against Gilles Muller :yeah: was on his birthday) it won't be a new experience for him. :)

  TJ.

:yippee: :yippee: Ernests!!

Also,  that Andy and Ernests have the same birthday. They can bring out cake for both before the match. :) Each can wish for the win as they blow out the candles.

But --- Now I feel as if I've made a jinxing post and Andy will lose to Santoro. :crying2:

That match will be played Friday August 29th. Saturday is only for third round matches in the upper part of the draw.

Isn't Roddick's birthday is Aug 29? At least, according to this forum. :p

Gulby, if you lost to Roddick, I am going to come after you man. This guy should be out of the tournament already but he gets like 3 days of rest at the start of the tournament and then he plays a match that look as rigged as Davydenko's loss to Ljubicic at Wimbledon.

but great effort in the second!

Uuh... my bad! Indeed. Here you are, don't believe everything, what's said on TV :)

However, I am at least partially right, because this will be the Aug 29 night's match in NY, but we will already have Aug 30 in Europe :P
