Match with most votes from posters will be US OPEN 2008 best match winner. No rules, you can vote for the match you liked the most (by suspense, quality, fav player or whatever criteria suits you). Everyone can change their opinion indefinitely as the tournament progresses(or at most until after the final), but only the last posted match will be counted as their choice. It would be neat if everyone posts their reasons why is certain match best for them.

P.S Although I am sure that there will be much better ones in next days, my choice from the first 2 days: Safin-Spadea - entertaining match, 5-setter, suspense and decent tennis in overall.

If Gasquet had not melt down in the fifth set it would have been my choice too.

I watched whole Haas match and in my opinion It was far from best. Too much depended from errors, also a ton of serve points. Not so much great rallies though.

My vote goes for Navarro-Gonzalez. That was awesome latinos encounter with full entertaining package - aggressive tennis, many great points, celebration scream battle, a lot emotions during match including Gonzo hardtalk with umpire and some artistic shows where ball is in or out + hot chilian crowd. truly reminds me some of DC matches :)

This is usually the kind of thread that is started after the OPEN finishes. But hey, this will give people a chance to make up matches that haven't even happened yet.

I'm gonna go with Blake - Young, with De Heart - Rochus a close second, although I'm probably the only one on MTF who saw it.

Am I the only one who found the Blake vs. Young match painstakingly boring?:o

Blake played like an uber power mug, and Young looks like a turd who has ADD on court. No brains were put into any shot hit, it was just blast the shit out of the ball because I can't properly construct a point on court when rallies would commence.

Unfortunately because of work, I have only been able to catch the Blake vs. Young, Djokovic vs. Clement, and now the Roddick vs. Santoro match. If I was forced to pick, Roddick vs. Santoro would get it but I know this isn't even close to the best match so far at the Open.

Affirmative. Cuevas-Bloomfield is a distant runner-up.

New favorite: Nishikori- Ferrer. The match had it all. I find it curious that in past slams Ferrer was involved in a large number of great matches, usually a 5-set thrillers.

Del Potro - Simon

Two nice young players with great long rallies.
