Chiseller 08-27-2008, 02:34 AM 1st set was good, the rest rather boring. MIMIC 08-27-2008, 02:35 AM Gonzalez's career record since 2002 (when he turned pro) is 4 - 6. That's 10 matches 6 years. Toko 08-27-2008, 02:35 AM Decent play, good serving. lina_seta 08-27-2008, 02:37 AM a confidence booster good win =D for fed neenah 08-27-2008, 02:37 AM No Darth Federer this year. :awww: We have a true FedEx man though  Flibbertigibbet 08-27-2008, 02:37 AM At least a couple of unknowns in the first two rounds - Stepanek in the third round will be very dangerous. Good serve stats, though. lina_seta 08-27-2008, 02:38 AM We have a true FedEx man though  Lol fittingly so l_mac 08-27-2008, 02:40 AM :bigclap: Already broken though  I thought he might go through the whole tournament without dropping serve. Sunset of Age 08-27-2008, 02:41 AM Well done Rogelio. Voo de Mar 08-27-2008, 02:50 AM What a joke to give this Maximo on Arthur Ashe Stadium in night session :o albeit very good for him to play once in a life in front of such a big audience... nobama 08-27-2008, 02:51 AM The UPS delivery guy gets past R1. :):) HNCS 08-27-2008, 02:53 AM What a joke to give this Maximo on Arthur Ashe Stadium in night session :o albeit very good for him to play once in a life in front of such a big audience... yeah the commentators were saying how this was a big moment in his career. not many people get to experience this. and he pushed hard in the first. so i think it was great. obviuosly more pleased at the fact that Roger won rather comfortably. :D rofe 08-27-2008, 02:56 AM Did Roger dish out his first bagel this year? didadida 08-27-2008, 02:56 AM nice win Roger keep it up miura 08-27-2008, 02:57 AM Convincing stuff by Roger! Good net-play, stable backhand and not many UF off the forehand wing. Not so sure about the outfit tho. http://media.herald-dispatch.com/blog/tuned/uploaded_images/King-of-Queens-782672.jpg Warrior 08-27-2008, 03:02 AM I wasn't impressed with Fed's game today krystlel 08-27-2008, 03:12 AM Good performance from Federer today. Good effort from Gonzalez especially in the first set, but it was always likely that he wouldn't be able to stay with Federer for long. drop shot 08-27-2008, 03:21 AM Not overly impressive, but I still like his chances to win his 5th straight. The only thing possibly holding him back will be the outfit. Warrior 08-27-2008, 03:27 AM Not overly impressive, but I still like his chances to win his 5th straight. The only thing possibly holding him back will be the outfit. In that match the only good thing about his game was serving. Everything else was mediocre at best. He won't win in it with this type of performance. GlennMirnyi 08-27-2008, 03:31 AM The UPS delivery guy gets past R1. :):) :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: trixtah 08-27-2008, 03:45 AM Gonzalez's career record since 2002 (when he turned pro) is 4 - 6. He should have won 0-0-0 though. A loss is coming in R2. Still, at least he will leave having dropped only 965. Who is this M(ug) Gonzalez. Phau would have kicked Federers ass if he was playing him. Thanks for the insightful observation. I think that the ATP rigged it so that Phau played Nadal, the only guy that could currently beat him. Might as well have been the championship match. He plays mostly challengers Fed always plays challengers. Just check out how he won those 12 slams. RogerFan82 08-27-2008, 04:11 AM Lucky one Roger. Had maximo played his A game, Roger would have been toast. :o ChinoRios4Ever 08-27-2008, 04:12 AM Upset alert! :haha: ChinoRios4Ever 08-27-2008, 04:14 AM What a joke to give this Maximo on Arthur Ashe Stadium in night session :o albeit very good for him to play once in a life in front of such a big audience... I was waiting this beatdown for Crapdeville last year, thank god he played ok in the last 2 sets vs Fed. :) SheepleBuster 08-27-2008, 04:38 AM a confidence booster good win =D for fed  haha! This Fed can't even beat Stepanek let alone Djokovic. How is he going to expect to win this tournament if he drops his serve to a guy who hasn't played on hard courts for quite some time? GlennMirnyi 08-27-2008, 04:40 AM  haha! This Fed can't even beat Stepanek let alone Djokovic. How is he going to expect to win this tournament if he drops his serve to a guy who hasn't played on hard courts for quite some time? :retard: Stepanek beats Frauderer on clay. Fakervic gets owned by Frauderer on clay. lina_seta 08-27-2008, 05:15 AM  haha! This Fed can't even beat Stepanek let alone Djokovic. How is he going to expect to win this tournament if he drops his serve to a guy who hasn't played on hard courts for quite some time? what part of my comment was a prediction? the only one making MTF run of the mill predictions is you. I was just saying playing well in a first round match is a confidence booster. Specially if one set goes to 6-0. Had nadal gotten a similar result against ANY player, qually, mug or wat not everyone would be saying "hand him the title already" SheepleBuster 08-27-2008, 05:41 AM  what part of my comment was a prediction? the only one making MTF run of the mill predictions is you. I was just saying he can have all the confidence boost he wants but if he plays like that, he ain't getting that trophy. Remember he will probably have to go through Djokovic and Nadal for the title. Not that he can't do it but these so called confidence boosts won't make his backhand solid against the pounding he'll get against Djokovic and Nadal Bibberz 08-27-2008, 06:00 AM Gonzalez's career record since 2002 (when he turned pro) is 4 - 6. That's 10 matches 6 years. I can tell where you're going with this--and I like it. He has fresh legs. He'll be a force on clay. :worship: Foxy 08-27-2008, 07:11 AM He should have won 0-0-0 though. He came in on a 4 match losing streak, which included a straight sets loss to the world 199 and a bagel set from Zverev on a clay court. The last time he played on a surface that wasn't clay was in a challenger event on the 6th of January... ...2006 Acer 08-27-2008, 12:56 PM Practice session for Roger A_Skywalker 08-27-2008, 01:06 PM Maximo Gonzalez was without a doubt the biggest mug in the draw. He had some nice touch shots, backhand needs work, forehand seems good. Should make Quarters or further. It was good to see Roger quite relaxed and in control, and since Wimbledon he has looked like he could struggle against anyone. Not the case today. RagingLamb 08-27-2008, 01:37 PM Roger looked so happy when he won. Or Levy 08-27-2008, 01:46 PM I thought his backhand actually looked good, and more solid than it has in a while. A lot of depth on it. his timing was a bit off on the passing shots, but the forehand looked good, I guess. lina_seta 08-27-2008, 02:56 PM I wasn't saying you predicted or predicted wrong. Not that he can't do it but these so called confidence boosts won't make his backhand solid against the pounding he'll get against Djokovic and Nadal well he normally plays better as tounrey wears on... but this is an anormal year... so i dont expect anything. He does, however, play better with confidence... his game is greatly affected by confidence, so gaining a couple of easy wins is good for him... if not in USO for the next ones. GlennMirnyi 08-27-2008, 03:19 PM gonzalez has a nice service motion.  Typical Argie service motion... Canas, Zabaleta, Puerta... EnriqueIG8 08-27-2008, 03:52 PM Steady win from the Fedmeister Corey Feldman 08-27-2008, 04:07 PM Didnt see it yet (since the fucktards who run US open always seem to need to put Federer's matches at night) so cant judge but i'm not any more optomistic just because of an easy score win SheepleBuster 08-27-2008, 04:17 PM well he normally plays better as tounrey wears on... but this is an anormal year... so i dont expect anything. Well, Roger was confident in the previous years but he didn't surely look like it against Djokovic or Nadal this past year. Roger should definitely make it to semis but I can't see him going any further if he plays Novak. In fact, I can see Novak beating Roger handily in 3 or four sets max. tangerine_dream 08-27-2008, 05:31 PM When did Roger start working for UPS? That outfit has gots to goes. Rumour 08-27-2008, 06:41 PM No Darth Federer this year. :awww: More like Blah Federer in that dull shade of greyish bown. As for the match itself, I was pretty content with Fed's performance after the first set. He did enough to beat the opponent across the net comfortably and advance with relative ease, which is all I truly expect of him (especially these days). Why some people apparently are never satisfied with anything less than a 'Ninja-Fed' or 'god-mode' performance, even in the early stages against no-names where it's not needed, still puzzles me. I'd rather the No. 2 save whatever extra brilliance and energy he has in him for when it really counts later on against tougher opposition. PiggyGotRoasted 08-27-2008, 07:01 PM Wow, double and single bageled in the same match :o bambelbitz 08-27-2008, 10:07 PM Easy win for Roger! luie 08-27-2008, 11:28 PM To me his BH looked like it had good depth but that's it ,little pace .Serve always generally good.
