yeah the commentators were saying how this was a big moment in his career. not many people get to experience this. and he pushed hard in the first. so i think it was great.

obviuosly more pleased at the fact that Roger won rather comfortably. :D

I wasn't impressed with Fed's game today

Good performance from Federer today. Good effort from Gonzalez especially in the first set, but it was always likely that he wouldn't be able to stay with Federer for long.

Not overly impressive, but I still like his chances to win his 5th straight. The only thing possibly holding him back will be the outfit.

In that match the only good thing about his game was serving. Everything else was mediocre at best. He won't win in it with this type of performance.

Roger played well, it was too easy for him to be honest.

He had some nice touch shots, backhand needs work, forehand seems good. Should make Quarters or further. It was good to see Roger quite relaxed and in control, and since Wimbledon he has looked like he could struggle against anyone. Not the case today.

Roger looked so happy when he won.

I thought his backhand actually looked good, and more solid than it has in a while. A lot of depth on it.

Well, Roger was confident in the previous years but he didn't surely look like it against Djokovic or Nadal this past year. Roger should definitely make it to semis but I can't see him going any further if he plays Novak. In fact, I can see Novak beating Roger handily in 3 or four sets max.

As for the match itself, I was pretty content with Fed's performance after the first set. He did enough to beat the opponent across the net comfortably and advance with relative ease, which is all I truly expect of him (especially these days). Why some people apparently are never satisfied with anything less than a 'Ninja-Fed' or 'god-mode' performance, even in the early stages against no-names where it's not needed, still puzzles me. I'd rather the No. 2 save whatever extra brilliance and energy he has in him for when it really counts later on against tougher opposition.
