:woohoo: Question to the Portugueses: Has there ever been a Portuguese in 2nd round of a Slam?

Yes. Nuno Marques did four times and Joao Cunha e Silva did it once I think.

First time since US Open 1995!

I've checked it. Cuhna-Silva did it twice (both in 1993).

Great run this year for Machado, coming back from injuries and working his way up from Futures. Really impressive display. For De Voest, considering his 2008 form, qualifying was already a major accomplishment.

One year ago Machado was 1111th in the rankings, because of an injury, and now has 6 future titles, good results in challengers and achieved the first victory of a portuguese tennis player in a Slam since 1995, all this year. Remarkable!:worship:

Vamos, but pronounced in another way (at least for European Portuguese). Pronounce it like Vamosh. In Brazil you can use the Spanish pronounciation though.

With the English sound in V, not the Spanish sound.
