USO R1: Querrey def. Berdych 6-3, 6-1, 6-2

I see Berdych was inspired by the Verdasco/Fish match. I don't know what he was doing out there but he certainly wasn't playing tennis. As if it needed confirming this proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Berdych is a mug. He should be kicked off the tour after this performance. Mustering only 6 games against Querrey is appalling.

He may have been unwell. That is the only explanation for this horrible performance.

A very plausible explanation indeed.

Berdych is the loser of the year so far imo. What a fucking mug losing to Querrey like this.

I do wonder sometimes whether Berdych realises that these are the best years of his career he is pissing away with results like this, with performances like this.

What is he waiting for? Does he think one day it's just going to all slot into place and come together for him - that it's just going to happen?

Or is he just happy with his lot and harbouring no ambitions to be any more than the player he is?

I find myself once again shrugging my shoulders and wondering what makes Tomas Berdych tick.

Credit to Querrey - he played a tidy match, used his weapons well, kept it together and got it done.

He was not asked too many difficult questions, though.

Now we'll get a Querrey vs Devilder second round and a third round between Querrey vs Karlovic. :help: :help:

Berdych should have let a LL in instead of playing such a shit.

I'm sure he's a least ill, NOW. What a steamroll by Sam. Unbelievable !! Could Reyes be paying off already. I didn't get to see all of the match, but what I did see, he was moving better than I've ever seen him.

You know, last night I thought Donald had no future but seeing his match with Blake and Berdych against Querrey, I can see now that Berdych is the one with absolutely no future. Go Donald! Sam? He is just another mug. He will be a good gatekeeper for people trying to get to top 30.

I don't think you can take anything from this match. Of course Querrey is going to look good when he is playing a walking corpse.

Well. Since Berdych hooked up with Safarova, his tennis has gone south. I now understand why Djokovic didn't pursue Ivanovic. I mean you don't cray where you eat, and unfortunately for Berdych his career seems to be over.

And you would be wrong then. I live in the US so of course I'm forced to see some of the Querrey match. What match were you watching if you think Berdych was even trying to win or even playing tennis?

Agree, but I've seen Querry look like crap playing virtual corpses before. Wish I could have seen the whole match to have a better perspective. But what I did see, his movement looked a lot better. We'll see.

Ivanovic is too good for Novak. I also remember an interview at the time of roland garros semi finals where she said she prefered roger to novak which resulted in novak's dad cheering ridiculously for jelena when she was facing ivanovic .

Oh, please. Sam did play well. But Berdych played like the muggiest of the mugs. He looked like a stupid junior player out there. Confused, braindead, dumb shot selection, no confidence in his game. Just unbelievable what a waste of talent Tomas has become.

At least he's a better looking waste of talent after his hair cut.

Lucie's tennis has gone way way down recently, as well. Berdych-Safarova needs to end already.

Correction. He hasn't got one good result after hooking up with Safarova. His heart is not in the game anymore. He joins Baghdatis, and Gasquet in the mugs room now. I hope Tsonga doesn't follow the same path.

I have directv, thus, I watched most of the match. Berdych was just terrible. As one of the commentators said, he moved like he had super glue on his shoes. The net on his side seemed to be higher and he could not find his range on both fh and bh.

Querrey, on the other hand, played a good match. Although most of the time, he only needed to keep the ball in play, he came up with a few good points.

Can't expect too much the majority can you? Of course he hasn't been the same since the ankle problem, but that's too hard to comprehend for the humanoids.

Berdych has these kinds of losses, well any guy that loses to both the Srich and Roddick on clay is capable of some hilarious results.

extremely good for querry if so...

have read a bit of the stuff he used to do with agassi and the work reyes does is so practical and simple its mind boggling... would be good to see reyes extend his work with querry leading into next years euro claycourt season, cos querry is one american who has his head screwed on - took the euro clay season head on and got dividends...

just looking at querry's calendar so far this year, it would appear to me that he wants to be very good everywhere throughout the year... proper year long ambition...

berdych is probably the ultimate enigma on tour right now for me...

he can just go from sh!t hot... to... the biggest underacheiver you could encounter... in the space of no time at all...

i mean... he's the only top 50 czech player i can think of, ever, that can easily appear and act super unintelligent on court... put jiri novak's head on berdych's body and you have a machine for all occasions...
