Obviously a big win for De Heart at his home country's slam.

Up next is Nadal...

De Heart has won first ATP match. Until today he has been a regular Futures player with some experiences in Challengers. De Heart was serving for match at 5:3 but lost his serve, Rochus couldn't level up.

someone tell me what happened to Ollie Rochus, he is becoming quite pathetic like his brother, his past results are a fucking joke

Ruchus brothers and Vliegen belong to the challenger circuit

Rochus should probably retire after this humiliation. De Heart will be lucky to get a game against Nadal.

I seem to recall reading that O. Rochus had been having problems with his shoulder and that he was considering having surgery after the season ends, don't know if the shoulder is still bothering him though.

I was at this match. I had never seen either play before and enjoyed both their games, especially De Heart's. Great strokes all around. He has a beautiful one-handed backhand and his slice is awesome. Serve could be beefed up a little bit, and his volleys are just so-so. I was expecting to see a ballbasher but he actually constructed points really nicely. Rochus didn't seem injured, but I wasn't aware that he's been having some issues and I wasn't looking out for it. De Heart just played better. I don't see him winning Grand Slams or anything, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him break the top 100 at some point. He could easily wind up with a career like Goldstein/Reynolds/Delic/Kendrick. Seems like a nice guy with some good on-court energy. I'd go watch him again.

Thanks for the report. :yeah: Well done.

I like to read first-hand match reports and player descriptions like this on MTF, especially in cases where most of us didn't get to see the match and/or haven't watched a particular player much before.

No prob. I didn't know anything about him either except that he played for 4 years at the University of Illinois.

One more tidbit. Someone behind me who seemd more familiar with him was calling "R2". I think this was short for "R2D2" (he might've called him that once but I'm not sure), as in the star wars character. I have no idea why he has this nickname. Absolutely none, and I should've asked. Just thought it was kind of funny.

If this guy (never heard of him) can win 10 games against Nadal he has done great.

I've seen the sky when it was dark green before so I'm taking this as a sign that De Heart wins ;)

:yeah: Been supporting Ryler for a couple of years now, nice guy with his head on straight, lefty like me :D Was in complete shock reading the result in USA Today yesterday.

I've seen him play a few times at Louisville (challenger) and his backhand amazes me - I of course can't seem to manage anything other a Nadal/Verdasco two hander!
