Futbol Season Thread @ BG's Request.

Ok, well BG requested a thread from me and or Ivan, i'm not sure what he is doing, but i am doing my own thread and i will use a unit base of 1-5. Obviously 1 being a small play and 5 being a maximum top play, which won't happen very often. I won't be just covering the EPL, Spanish and Italian leagues, i'll be pretty much be doing Mexican, US, Brazil, Argentina, Dutch, German etc. Alot of leagues, no shit. I will also be incorporating things like cards and corners, but only some bookmakers allow. So tough titties.:D
I still and always will say football is the most profitable sport you can bet on, and i will try to show you how.

Lets get this bitch rolling. ;)

Units 1-5.

I noticed BG was sceptical of this and was quite surprised. Despite the way my season turned out last season, football is profitable, as profitable as any other sport. I don't know about "most" profitable, because there really isn't any one sport that can claim to be, it's about the individual backer and what markets/sports they know best to make it work for them.

Good luck with your season, Jig. I'm sure you'll have a good one and in the event it ends up going south like mine did for 2007/08, you know you can always back Argentina to get you out of trouble when needed. :D ;) (he said, awaiting egg on his face)

Football has never been a good sport for me. Even a few years ago when I was a total football freak I just couldn't win consistently. Maybe it's because I was just a shit gambler in general back then and I should give it another try now that I've learned a thing or 2 about discipline and staking but I've become a bit disillusioned with the sport and don't follow it half as much as I used to.

Anyway GL Jig-Jag and you too jay

How do you pick your bets, jig-jag? Stats from last seasons?

Gamblore
08-25-2008, 06:51 AM
Stats will only help you so far. I mean i do use them, but i watch basically every game the teams play, weather it be Champions League, FA Cup, Carling or the EPL. I take notes on every team, so my handbook is full of written notes that i can refer to which helps me. Some of the internet doesn't give you a full story that i have from viewing the games myself.
This is how i do my capping of the games, i know everything i can before i place a bet. Plus i have a database full of everything the teams scored, conceded, fouls, Corners, Cards etc from last season in the Championship and English Premier League. You have to view the games or else its pointless betting on teams. Plus i watched the Premier League the last 4 seasons.

Apart from having Foxtel, which is pay per view. Foxtel pretty much gives us All the EPL games and ESPN has Spanish and CL and alittle Italian as does RAI, and i recently got Setanta, so it futbol central. But i use Justin.tv for alot of South American games, that we can't get in Australia.

Inter Milan to be Group B Winner - 1.40 10/10 Stake - Pinnacle

I know this is only supposed to be 1-5 units, but i am bending rules here. I am really confident and have put some big money on this. I simply cannot see them not topping there group. Plus they just added Quaresma to there squad. They have a awsome squad now + Mourinho.

Jig, tough luck on Stoke/Everton, that match never looked like going over for much of it and then it just exploded in the first 15 of the 2nd half. Re: the thread in general - if you have been having success in past seasons this way, I don't see any reason why you should stop the thread. If the numbers are there for you in the past and you believe in your capping ability, then you should continue with the thread, but maybe at reduced stakes until you put together a consistent run and regain confidence in your picks.

I don't know what your overall tally is right now, if you are at your limit with regards to how much you can lay out, then fair enough, time to stop the thread. If not, keep plugging away at minimal stakes until you start generating some units.

I take it you much prefer betting over/unders to straight match bets?
