I just came back from the qualy, spent almost 2 hours there.

First I saw 4 games of Leonardo Cunha vs Fernando Mussolini. Cunha had good shots from the baseline. He won the first set 6-4 and probably won the match too.

Then I went to court 1 to see Lucas Lopasso vs Aquino Chang. Lopasso had already won the first set 6-3. He has a solid baseline game and can vary the game with good slices. The problem is that he was losing the focus too many times, complaining when he was missing some shots. Chang had faster shots and a good serve. Lopasso served for the match but Chang forced a tiebreak. Lopasso had a match-point at 6-5 and serving, but Chang played 3 good points and won the second set. In the beginning of the third set Lopasso broke Chang's serve. Then he saw himself 0-40 down and got really nervous. He did a totally irresponsible drop shot and won the point, the ball almost came back to his side :worship: After that he stayed more foccused and won the match 6-3 6-7(6) 6-3.

Notes: I saw Juan-Francisco Spina there waiting his time to play. He is the first seeded of qualy and will probably enter the main draw. I saw him at São Paulo challenger qualy and he has a huge serve, far superior from the other players at this qualy in Santos.

During Lopasso vs Chang match Chang's father was watching the match. He was drinking beers and smoking next to the court :retard: how can someone smoke at the side of your son playing tennis I can't understand

When it's 4 PM I will see if I can go back there to watch the second round. I won't be able to go during the week so I have to go today :D

I just arrived from the tournament :)

Great match between Nicolas Kauer from Chile and Charles Costa from Brazil :yeah:

Both players were hitting the ball extremely hard the whole match  :worship: I saw great potential in both players. Kauer started better and broke Costa's serve at 1-0. Then he opened *4-1, *5-2 but only closed the first set at 6-4, saving two break-points at *5-4.

The second set started the same way as the first and Kauer went a break up. What I liked the most at Costa was that he stayed foccused the whole match, even when he was losing. He never broken a racket or so, differently from other players I saw. Both players kept playing very well and hitting great winners. When Kauer was serving *3-2 Costa played a good game and tied the set. After that they both were confirming theis ervices and Kauer seemed to get a little bit tired. At 5-5 he played well again and broke Costa to open *6-5. Costa kept fighting a lot and saved 3 match-points, but Kauer was too good and won 6-4 7-5. Good player to watch Chileans, I hope he does well in the future :yeah:

There were 4 guys following the match and supporting Kauer, I guess they were Roberto Lau, Francisco Olivares, Nicolas Guzman and L.Henriquez Gonzalez, the other Chileans in the qualy draw :)

I did go there, only for 1 hour it's true, but I did :D

I wanted to watch my favourite futures player Tiago Lopes, but his match had already finished the time I arrived :( he probably destroyed local WC Thiago Mastroianni. I ended by seeing the first set of the oldie Carlos Oliveira vs Rafael Garcia.

When I arrived Oliveira was 4-0 up. Probably everything he tried got in, because Garcia was playing ok. Rafael started to hit the balls deeper and the reaction came. He won 4 games in a row and tied the match. It continued very equilibrated and went to the tiebreak.

Oliveira is 32 years old and barely has an activity at ITF website. He reached the semi-final last week in São José do Rio Preto at his first main draw appearance. Besides his age he is very fit, and also has a good game. He can hit fast shots and did constant winners. Garcia has an enjoyable game, his serve is good and baseline shots are good as well. He can also hit nice drop shots. I saw him last year and he has improved for sure.

Garcia started the TB with a minibreak but let Oliveira come back. The veteran had 5-3 and serve, but Garcia went back to focus and won in a tight 9-7. The I had to left :9 they are probably playing right now.

The atmosphere between those two was pretty dark :scared: I don't know the reason, if it's because Oliveira is an old player that is having good results, if they just don't get along or it was just match circumstances. Thing is in the TB Garcia was shouting loud "vamooooooos", which he was doing last year too, so nothing anormal there. When he scored 8-7 he souted again and Oliveira said something to him. Garcia answered "que é velho?" ("what man"). Oliveira said to the umpire "o cara fica olhando pra mim" ("hthe guy keeps looking at me") and complained about Garcia taking instructions by his coach. The umpire said to Oliveira "if you have something to say to me first"). I wish I was there to watch the end of this match :p

Here's a little video I made not to lose the habit :) (it's the end of the game in which Garcia tied the match 6-6) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1q7I_QR4Ms

Now I won't be able to watch anything until friday or saturday. Tomorrow I'm going to a swimming competition in São Manoel, near to Campinas and I'll be back just at Friday. If I arrive here early I can maybe watch 1 match, but Saturday I'll go for sure. Sunday I have an exam (ENEM :ras:) so I won't see the final

P.S: Oliveira reminds me of Jean-Rene Lisnard :tape:
P.S 2: Tiago Lopes and Leonardo Kirche were at the standings during the match :worship:

Back to write today's report :wavey:

I arrived earlier than expected from the trip and it was good because I could go to the tournament :) I was still at home at 1:45 PM watching Melo/Sá defeating Melzer/Schuettler and waiting Alves' match to start. Anyway, Jankovic vs Zheng was seeming to be long and I decided to go to Tenis Clube.

I went immediately to the Court 1 as my favourite futures player, Tiago Lopes, was playing there against Mexican Bruno Rodriguez. The score was showing 6-2 to Lopes when I arrived. I must say, Tiago was playing very well :bigclap: his baseline strokes were going nice and he was outplaying the 2nd seeded. Rodriguez was very disappointed with his game and with the way the match was going. Lopes was hitting winners, he was missing lots of shots and he couldn't do anything to change it. There was a point in which the Mexican hit a beautiful winner, and he started to shout to himself: "VAMOS CARAJO, DESPIERTA CARAJOOOO, DESPIERTA!", which means "c'mon ***, wake up ***, wake up!".

Tiago opened a 5-0 lead and served for the match at 5-1. In the moment he almost felt the pressure and the game went to deuce. Fortunatelly he stayed foccused, by the way as he did in the whole match, and closed it at 6-2 6-1 :worship: :woohoo: :worship:

The attendance to that match was very little :scared: it was a Mexican woman (probably Bruno's mother), Tiago's father (who is always very supportive to him, a very positive attitude), Fernando Romboli (who was also supporting Tiago all the time) and Tiago's biggest fan who is this guy writing :D In another court André Stabile and Leonardo Kirche were practicing. The funny thing is that they were going to face each other in 1 hour  when they left the practice they had to come trough the Court 1 and when they saw the score showing 6-2 5-0 to Tiago they made a surprised and happy expression. Outside the court, they were joking each other and Kirche pretended he would kick Stabile by his back :haha: all funny and good guys :yeah: André Pinheiro was there too.

After that I went to the Center Court to watch Eric Gomes vs Juan-Pablo Yunis. Eric had won the first set 6-2 but was trailing 2-3* at the second. At that moment of the match Yunis was playing better, helped by his good serve. He wasn't missing shots, the opposite from Gomes. When it was 5-3 to the Argie and Gomes was serving, the Brazilian did an excellent lob that changed the match. Yunis tried to take it and felt to the floor. Apparently he injured his left wrist (he is right-handed) and took a medical timeout. I don't think his wrist was hurt when he came back to the court, but he completely lost the momentum and started to do an unforced error at every point. After that, Gomes' job was only passing the ball to the other side, and Yunis would finish it by missing the shot. The Brazilian won 4 consecutive games and closed the match 6-2 7-5. It was sad seeing Yunis so frustrated at the end, he could had had a better luck. Well, these thing happen in tennis and I'm glad Eric is in the semis :) A woman (probably his girlfriend, as I remember her sister from the São Paulo challenger and today it wasn't her) was supporting him all the time; also Romboli, Kirche, the EGA academy coach whose name I don't know and Rafael Garcia were there between the 50 persons watching the match.

What's nice to say about the crowd is Tiago Lopes' father's attitude (him again :)) I believe Eric and Tiago are very good friends as they usually play doubles together and last year they were hanging around together during the tournament. Well, thing is that Lopes' father must be his good friend too and right after his son's match finished he went to the Center Court. When he arrived he looked at Eric's face and started to hit his hand against his chests. Their friendship seems very nice :)

That's it for today as I had to leave after that. Tomorrow I'll be there to watch both semis and the doubles final, so another report will come as well :)

Cheers,

Caio :wavey:

I just came back from the club, altough it's not raining the court is in bad conditions. The tournament director told me that the matches won't start before 12:30, 13:00. I'll be back there at that time :)

Semi-finals report

I woke up at 5:30 AM to go to swimming practice and it was raining. Three hours later it had stopped. Half an hour later it started again. And stopped. And started (...) and stopped :p I went to the club at 11 AM, time that the first mathc was scheduled. It wasn't raining in that moment, but the court was in terrible conditions. The director told me it wouldn't start before 1 PM, so I got back to home and again to the club at that time.

After another rain period, the first semi between Kirche and Lopes started at around 2:15 PM. I was cheering for Lopes as he is my favourite futures player and he was also trying to reach his first final. Anyway, I like Kirche very much too and I wouldn't be sad if he pulled out a win. Before the match he was very friendly with the ballkids and the maintainance man, nice person :yeah:

The match: Lopes started very well and opened 3-0. The rain came back and interrupted the match for 10 minutes. This didn't affected Lopes' game and he won the first set 6-2. Kirche started the second breaking Lopes' serve, but he couldn't hold his own. Kirche was strangely tired and breathing very deep. After another rain delay, Lopes keeped very foccused and executing his game very well, while Kirche was too erratic. In the end, 6-2 6-1 to Tiago and he is in his first final ever :worship:

It was very beautiful his celebrating after the match. It was a hug festival between him, his father, mother, girlfriend or fiancee who was sitting next to me, her mother and even with her father by telephone. Tiago's girlfriend couldn't handle such emotion and started to cry there :bigcry: He was so happy, his smile was enormous :) Deserved for him, I'm very happy!

Fortunatelly the rain didn't appear strongly anymore. The next match would be Gomes vs Grilli. Some Gomes' relatives were present there (I remember one guy supporting him against Dabul in January), as well as Lopes' father who always supports him.

The match: Gomes played the first set much better than Grilli and won it 6-1. The second set started with both players playing very bad and too nervous. It was a festival of smashing rackets and complaining to himselves. Gomes once said to himself "muito burro, muito burro!" ("too stupid"). Fortunatelly to us fans, in the middle of the set they stopped complaining and started to play a very great tennis. A lot of nice shots by both players, very enjoyable. Grilli had a good advantage at the tiebreak but he didn't hold it. Gomes closed it 6-1 7-6(6). He will face Lopes who is probably his best friend. I won't be able to watch it because I have that exam tomorrow

I was going to watch the doubles semi/final too, but it would take so long to start because Grilli had to rest. Both finals will be played tomorrow I guess.

Brief notes: Kirche appeared in the stands after his match and hugged Tiago Lopes' father. The man is probably friend of everyone  Kirche probably enjoys football a lot: last year he was wearing a Boca Juniors shirt; this time it was a Milan one.

One of the ballkids is too funny, he is always laughing and doing clownishs when running after the balls.

I don't remember of anything else now, if I do I'll write later :yeah:

Videos and pictures are coming later when I finish to upload them :wavey:

Tenisbrasil, Tenisnews and Tenisshow have the same report, with the samw words, saying Gomes defeated Lopes 6-1 7-6(6). As it's the same score of Gomes' win in the semi-final, I'm not 100% convinced it's the truth
